For the first time in 17 years

For the first time in 17 years, downtown Orlando just hit 100 degrees. The heat index has been higher many times, but this is the first time for the actual temperature to hit 100 in a very long time. It is hot!

We were there last August and it was a heat wave (at least that's what the CMs were telling us, which is not what you want to hear!). I forget the temps but the "Feels Like" was 109 for a few afternoons in a row.

How long is it supposed to last?

No end in sight. A good portion of the southeast is seeing record heat.

In South Louisiana it's plus 90 degrees with 60% humidity. It feels like being smothered with a hot, wet blanket when you walk outside. Yuk!

We live in Charleston, SC, and it's the same here. Next week is supposed to be worse. I can't even fathom worse. Heat indexes could be up to 115!

We were in Florida June 1 - 13. We go every summer and were commenting on how it was our coolest temperatures we ever had in summer. Guess we picked the right weeks!

I remember the hottest location was the entire park for Universal Studios Orlando for some reason.

Oh good. I'll be in Kissimmee in three days. I was there for that ungodly heat wave last summer. It is what it is, I suppose. Glad this year I chose to go the sundress route.

I'm only jealous of Florida weather in Jan and Feb and maybe half of March (NJ). I prefer our weather the other 9 months. But when I'm jealous I'm really jealous!

It seems like Texas and Florida switched this summer. We have been getting Florida rains every afternoon in Austin. That's expected in Houston, but not here. We have also been getting Texas rains, aka Noah's ark level deluges that cause flooding. Our temps have been really nice though. I don't think we have hit above 95 yet, which is pretty amazing for the second half of June.

lol on the egg. I know summers there are brutal, but our winters here in NY are pretty nasty too. We had full weeks of temperatures in the single digits this past winter. I am almost ready for the 100 degree heat in Orlando.

We were there June 4th through the 10th, and I remember thinking that we got so lucky with the weather since I'd seen so many reports of the super extreme heat the weeks leading up to our trip. Sure, it was hot, but tolerable. Our kids even got to finish their Mickey bars before they totally melted!

We've been at WDW since last Saturday and while we often visit in June, this trip has been hot beyond belief. It hasn't ruined our trip, but it sure has reinforced our habit of afternoon breaks. Even the pool feels like a hot tub though- unbelievably hot!

That was the craziest thing for us. We visited from 3rd - 12th of June. it was the first June trip for us, and getting into the pool it being really warm (this was at 7 in the evening) was really unexpected. Lovely though.

I do love sitting on the warm pavement at night for MSEP. Sitting on the pavement for FOF is a no go though, only made that mistake once!! At one point the pavement was so hot the souls of my shoes felt like they could act as a cooking surface
