For one day only--rent car or taxi to Celebration?

Will be spending all week in the parks except for one weekend day, during which the itinerary is as goes: Going to Celebration only in the morning. Back to the parks around noontime. Then possibly visit relatives' home that night.

Question: Do we rent a car for that one day? Do we call a cab? If we rent, what is the easiest, most efficient, least costly and less time-consuming way to do it? Will a cab cost less?

Thanks for the advice.

We rented a car from Budget. They have an office at the Doubletree hotel close to Downtown Disney. If you call them 24 hours in advance they will send a car to pick you up at your hotel. It cost us about $45.00 for 24 hours. It was very painless and easy.

A cab will cost less if you don't go too far.

If you decide that a car would be fun to use to explore the area on your own...
You can rent a National Rent-a-Car on Disney Property (in the Swan Hotel).
Just make your arrangements before you go and then take a Disney bus from any theme-park to the Swan and pick up your car. (Return it the same way.)

You're gonna do it all, aren't ya?

When are you going?

Hey, Robo! We are leaving Dec. 16. No, we're not doing it all, but we do have to visit family in Orlando.

I like that cabs are cheaper. How long is the wait for a cab to and from Celebration?

I also like the idea of having the car dropped off at our hotel. Will that cost more than picking up the car yourself? And can they pick up the car when we return it, too?

If you make arrangements before the fact (call for a cab to arrive to get you at either end of the trip at a specific time), there would be virtually no waiting.
I'll assume there are few enough in your party to all fit into one cab.

I would say if you need a car to also visit relatives, you might be better off renting one.

What do you plan to do in Celebration? If you're just going to stay downtown, a cab is fine. If you want to check out the town, a rental car would be better because Celebration is too big to see too much of on foot.

A cab from Celebration Health cost about $20 about six years ago, one way, plus tip.

I'd rent the car. In addition to Budget, there may be a Dollar counter in one of the Hotel Plaza Boulevard properties, and of course National and Alamo are at the Car Care Center and at the Dolphin.

If you rent a car and they pick you up, would they drop you off at your hotel when you return the car or do you have to take the shuttle back to your hotel? I'm just thinking of how much time out of our touring vacation hours the whole traveling back and forth to the car rental office will take.

We're not checking out the town, just attending church services. Should we check the town out? I don't think we have enough time in our week to squeeze that in.
