? for National Experts

This is an odd question, so I will try to make this as simple as I can...

I have a National reservation that is counter service. I am an EC member (I wasn't when I made the reservation). I can't change the reservation the an EC reservations because the price difference is over $100.00 - I got a great rate back in October.

This is my question (s):

Does my spouse get to drive without the $5.00/day charge because I am an EC member or do I need an EC reservation to get that benefit?

Do we get the "good" gas refill price for the same reasons?

I don't have the answers to your questions, but wanted to make a suggestion. Maybe you've already tried this, but I always call National to have them send me a copy of the confirmation. I've found that there's no arguing about your rate when picking up the car if you have THEIR confirmation vs. one printed off the internet. Anyways....I wasn't able to get my last reservation at the low rate with EA level of service but when I called for a copy of the confirmation I mentioned it to the rep on the phone and she bumped me to the EA level. So if you haven't already tried, give it a shot. Good luck!

Noel, when I made my ea ressie on interenet, I printed a copy, and it said Estimate, then the next day i got an e-mail restating ressie and said confirmation. Do I still need to call and get one? Would you? thanks, MKY

I printed a copy of the reservation out when I made the it. I have called several times and asked to have my reservation changed from "counter" to "Emerald Aisle" and have been told that they cannot make the change without changing the rate as well.

If you have your email confirmation I would think that's ok. In the past there was a problem with National not sending email confirmations. I just always call to have National send me a confirmation because the first time I used the EA I had a really low rate for a 8 day rental and they told me they couldn't "find" that rate & I had to pay 30.00 more than my internet printout. (I got an adjustment once I got home).

Maybe I just got lucky when they upgraded my ressie to EA from counter.
