Please help us decide! My husband will be doing his very first Disney marathon in Jan '07 and we were trying to figure out which resort was most convenient for him to get to the start line and then get back easily. Where have you all stayed? Was it convenient/easy? Any info about the marathon and how runners get to/from etc . . . would be great. Also, will I be able to see him during the race or at the finish line?

Thanks guys!!

There was another thread that people mentioned staying at POFQ - and they were able to walk to the start. Disney does not encourage this though.

We have stayed at BCV, Poly, ASMo for the races. All have been fine, since you have to get the bus at the resort anyway.

It is alot easier to view your runner if you stay on the monorail line IMO. And that's after 5 years of experience chasing my hubby around while he runs!

PM me if you have any more quesitons about seeing him run - I think I have it pretty down pat now. :teeth:

I stayed at the Yacht Club for the marathon this year and am booked into the Beach Club for next year.

I think the "getting to and from the start line" situation is a wash, since Disney provides buses to and from all the resorts to and from the start (and the expo).

The two reasons I'm staying here again:

1. I prefer the location of these hotels above all others. (I close down Epcot most nights)

2. Since I will need to do a couple of training runs before the race at Disney (I'm arriving Wednesday), I wanted a place where that would be easy. In my mind, that either means a moderate (all easy places to run based on their layout) or the Epcot area (and it's boardwalk surrounded lake). And since one of my favorite memories of my marathon trip was running around Crescent Lake on the Thursday before the race is one of my favorite memories of last trip... it was a no brainer.

Hope that helps!

We stayed at WL this year & it was great. Me & my mom took the bus to the start in the a.m. and later our support team took the boat over to the Contemporary. We were able to see them there, then they took the monorail to the Poly where we saw them again & then they hopped on the monorail to beat us to Epcot for the Finish. It was awesome being able to see them so many times & they said it was really easy getting around that way. Much better than having to get out in traffic.

We stayed at Beach Club and are planning to stay there again next year. It was a really short trip to the start of the half. DH and the girls were able to go in through the Int'l Gateway at 8am, then out to the front to meet me at the finish. It was cool to be there for the full since mile 24 goes right through Yacht and Beach. We were able to cheer on the full participants and are looking forward to doing it again next year.

We stayed at SSR. It has an onsite spa. ;) (Not that I got to use it.)
