Or for anyone else who would know. Off property, what is open that day? Are all restaurants open? Supermarkets? And speaking of supermarkets, have you seen any good deals in the area for the premade holiday meals? I know all of our local supermarkets have them. We're renting a house in Windsor Hills, if that helps. Thanks.

I know for a fact that most restaurants in the 192 or 535 areas are open on Thanksgiving Day. We were driving from Daytona one year on TG day and there was nothing open while driving in except for a very busy Cracker Barrel. Once we got to the Cross Roads area, everything was open.

Can't speak for grocery stores though. I would think that would be about the same as anywhere else in the country though.

Sorry to do this, but bumping. It sounds likelocal restaurants will be open. Now I'd like to know about grocery stores, and if they sell the prcooked holiday meals. Thanks.

We ordered a delicious Thanksgiving meal from Goodings, picked it up Thanksgiving morning. You could do the same thing at Publix or Walmart Supercenter.

Thank you. I looked at the websites for Super Target, Super Walmart, Publix, and I tried Goodings (no holiday meals listed). Publix has a basic meal for us, and I think we'll use them. There are only 4 of us, and I hate to waste all that food. Hopefully my teenage son will help out :lmao:.

If you can find their websites you can also find their phone numbers and call the stores directly. When we bought our turkey dinner it was from the Goodings across from Downtown Disney. The basic dinner came with turkey, stuffing, gravy, rolls and cranberry relish. They also had every side dish you could imagine plus desserts in the store. Publix had the dinner but wasn't as elaborate as Goodings when it came to sides, but Publix caters to the people of the area while Goodings concentrates more on tourists.

And the price of that meal will reflect it.I love shopping Goodings don't get me wrong but the prices-WOW!!!!

Supposedly Publix has a corp wide rule about not being open on holidays. This is interesting because I remember growing up they were open till noon.

The Goodings in LBV has a niche market -- tourists who are more interested in the items than the price tags on them. We stop in there every time we go to Orlando because they have some English foods we can't find back home. For a supermarket where a family would do their normal weekly shopping there is no question they are overpriced.

BTW here is the link for the Publix site, I believe you can order a holiday dinner online from wherever you live and pick it up in Orlando:

The Bob Evans Farmhouse Feast has a lot of food for 6-8 people:

We're getting two of these for 15 people, but you have to pick it up Wed night and heat everything.

Cracker Barrel has a to go meal for less people and less money:

Consider myself in the Publix family because son is a manager there. They actually have never been open on holidays(been shopping there 30 years) and used to even be closed on Sundays because they believed families should have the family together on them. Now that founder is dead, they stay open on Sundays but are closed on most holidays. They do the dinners, but not sure if you pick them up early morn on Thanksgiving or the day before.

I believe Winn Dixie stays open on thanksgiving till 3 or 4 PM in most locations.

Thanks for all of these suggestions. The publix meal should be fine for us, as there are only 4 of us. Goodings is a bit expensive. I know that we'll have to reheat whatever we get. The basics are fine for us. I'll just pick up some frozen veggies and dessert, and we're good to go.

It'll be our first Thanksgiving poolside :thumbsup2.
