? for ladies with "fine" hair

Aveda products can be purchased at any "Aveda" salon. Most salons don't carry Aveda products since Aveda is trying to keep themselves exclusive. Although, my local Bubbles chain does carry Aveda because I think they have one "Aveda" salon in their chain.

Also, some of the shopping malls have Aveda stores.

Having said all that, please realize that these products won't produce miracles. I just think they are far superior then most other products out there. The other day I ran out of shampoo and my Sap Moss spray. I had to use Clairol Herbel Essence Shampoo and some other mousse I had lying around. Talk about a bad hair day!! Wow, I almost wanted to stay home from work. I couldn't believe how much more manageable the Aveda products made my hair. But on top of the products, I have a very good ($$$$) haircut and I have highlights which add so much body and texture. Without those, I'm not sure how much help the Aveda products would give me. So, it's not just one item that works--it's a multitude of things to get that fine hair "unfine." I always joke when I go see my hairdresser. I tell her that I've come in to "get some damage done" my hair. That's exactly what hightlights do. They rough up your hair texture so it's not so soft and smooth. Then I have her razor cut me and texuturize and it's not so "fine" anymore.

I also have extremely fine, stick straight hair. I just have highlights, and it's cut with bangs, and all one lenght, a few inches below my shoulders. My hair will never hold a style no matter what length or cut, so I just gave up.

FYI, JC Penney's salons carry Aveda products, or at least they did a year ago.

another fine hair, long layers, highlights help

I've been using Matrix products for fine hair which I like as well.

I use one of those curling iron style hair dryers to dry and style at the same time. I looks like a large curling iron brush but with holes that blow dries the hair - I haven't used a regular hair dryer in years, this is so much easier. But I do have to say, they seem to break or burn out fairly quickly, they seem to last about a year and I have to get a new one, but that could be because I pack it/travel weekly and it probably get's banged around quite a bit.

My favorite styling product for limp, fine hair is Matrix Amplify. Its a root lifter, and gives the hair a real boost that lasts all day long. I'd be one unhappy camper if they stopped making it!

I have to do my hair every day with a round brush and blowdryer or it would look stringy and flat. Perms fry my hair, wouldn't ever consider one of those. I don't mind that my hair is straight, I just wish it had more body! The Matrix Amplify definately helps with that though. Those of you with thin and fine hair -- try it, I think you'll like it.

I have very fine hair and have kept it short for years because it gets too limp if it's longer. I find that coloring it really makes it look much better. I love playing with color and different cuts. I usually don't need any products because of the cut. I can't stand goop in my hair anyway.

Snoopy,
This stuff had no effect on my hair. Maybe your hair is not as bad as you think!!

::yes::

Another vote for the Aveda products. I have super fine, super straight hair, very blonde hair. Perms last less than a week in my hair. Nothing ever seemed to give it any shape or body. Then I found a hairdressed who was willing to experiment a little. We found that a razor cut with a few layers, just below the shoulders, combined with Aveda works wonders. Alas, Vicky moved to Wales, so I back to looking for a good stylist, but I'll never give up the Aveda.

I perm mine. I got so tired of trying to do something to it that just fell out 2 hours later, so I attacked with chemicals. :)

ITA. Mine gets permed every 3 months. Period. I can't stand it any other way.
