I have heard that some TS restaurants will bring children under 3yrs old an actual "kids meal" from the kids menu at TS restaurants even though children under 3 aren't on the DDP...I have also heard they will only bring the kids under 3yo something like buttered noodles.
Does anyone know what they do for kids under 3yo (who aren't on DDP) at Coral Reef. Will they get ANY free food, or do I need to plan to share w/ DS2 from my own plate for her whole meal there?
TIA!

DD was 2.5 when we went in 2009. The only place she got her own plate for free was at buffets/family style meals. Everywhere else we either shared from our plates or purchased her own meal.

Coral Reef was actually the only restaurant we went to when dd7 was 2 that actually charged for her drink. However, they did give her a free kids ice cream when her brother got his and she started crying. We each gave her a little off of our plates and she had more than enough to eat.

On our last trip we went with my cousin's family who had a 2 y/o. The only place other than buffets/family style that she was given a free meal was at CRT and that was plain buttered noodles. As she was/is a good eater, they bought her kids meals at the other TS restaurants and all CS restaurants.

We've gone about 6 times with kids under 3.

Askerhaus and CRT are the only places we were offered free kids meals.

CRT was butter noodles for lunch and french toast sticks for breakfast.
Askerhaus we could order ANYTHING off the kids menu.

All our drinks were free for the whole trip with the exception of Kona and Yak and Yeti.

La Hacienda we were offered an additional ice cream and fruit cup for him... but not the actual entree.

Hope that helps.

1) TECHNICALLY, "kids-under-3-do-not-eat-free".
2) But, when done per policy, they eat almost free.
3) And, based upon CM discretion, they can eat free.
4) The official rules:
. . . kids under three can eat off the adult's plate
. . . if they order anything, like milk, they are supposed to pay for it
. . . if they order any food, they are supposd to pay for it
. . . this is anywhere, including buffets
5) What really happens:
. . . at buffets, kids can get a plate, and actually "eat buffet food free"
. . . . . . adults could get the food, instead and give it to the kid
. . . . . . the adult could claim it is their plate kid eats from
. . . . . . they might as well have a drink, for same reason
. . . . . . it's tough to determine it was theirs or their parents
. . . at non-buffet, servers can determine if they ordered food
. . . . . . it is easy to tell if they got a drink
. . . . . . the server usually let's the drink go, but not food
. . . . . . the server usually charges for food ordered for the kid

6) So, to wrap-up, kids under-3 eat free ONLY from parent's plate
7) At buffets, they can actually take food from the buffet table.

when my daughter was under 3 we paid for any meals that we ordered for her, unless we were at a buffet, and she did get free buttered noodles at CRT. She is now 6, and still asks for Cinderella noodles for dinner! On that same trip we did eat at Coral Reef and paid for her meal.

We have taken a comparable number of trips with a child under three and have eaten at CRT and Akershus pretty much every trip. This has been exactly our experience too. We've eaten at Coral Reef several times too and, sorry, OP, but I would plan on sharing with your 2-year-old or purchasing his own meal.

I haven't tracked which (non-buffet) restaurants have offered a drink but it's happened frequently. At Coral Reef, they offered smoothies as drinks to the paying customers and I had them put mine in a kid's cup for my little one.

Any fixed price restaurant will result in the under 3 crowd being served food for free. Everywhere else if you want your child to get a dish of food separate from what you've ordered then you have to pay for it. Technically at these restaurants you should also be charged for their drink if you order one but many servers will just not ring it in.

We have always purchased a kids meal except for the buffets. :)

When we went 2 weeks ago they charged us for my 2yr old's apple juice...but brought her a yogurt w/ fruit for no charge. I couldn't make sense of it!

My 7yr old ordered the meaty macaroni and there was plenty to share with the baby though. She also ate the bread and butter (loves carbs like her mom!) and I brought her a banana. Between everyone there, there was plenty to go around - I think she had bites of some other dishes and dessert.
