For Fun: Phrases your family now uses because of a trip to WDW

My husband and I used to love the Wonders of Life's "Cranium Command" movie with the Saturday Night Live Guys... Hanz and Franz were very popluar when this attraction opened and to this day we refer to heads as "Craniums." If one of the kids whacks their head we'll say "Uh oh, cranium!" It's one of those stupid items of family folklore and the kids have no clue why we even say it!

We just took the Keys Tour and for the rest of the trip hubby and I kept looking at each other and saying - This is for our safety, this is a courtesy, this is efficiency, this is good show, etc. You get my point! I think the tour ruined us!

Well, we've been known to burst into a chorus of "Yo, Ho, Yo, Ho, a pirate's life for me" during totally inappropriate moments.

And I've noticed that "Into infinity and beeeyond" finds it's way into otherwise normal conversations. (Seems to happen as the trip time gets closer)

And of course....Hey, look, it's Chuck and Dave!!!!!

I swear that must have been my son you overheard saying "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit". He started saying this to his older sister a year ago and it's "HIS PHRASE" now everyone who knows him thinks its hilarious. Did that boy happen to be a tall 5 year old with dirty blonde (dark not literally dirty ) hair? Of course he had to have been probably the cutest little boy you've ever seen..HAHA

Seriously though- we've only made 2 disney visits so far but I did get stuck on NAH TA ZU at Animal Kingdom last trip and really embarassed my 9 yr dd as I kept saying it louder and louder and then got very amused with myself.

Too funny! I did not see him, as I was attending to my 2 yr old DD when he walked by. This was during our most recent trip 12/04.

DH hadn't been to WDW in ages. Even after we bought into the DVC, I was the only one going with DS and friends. So this past July he finally went and he went on Buzz. Well, all I heard for the rest of the year was "to infinity and beyond" and then he'd make that sound of the lassers firing.

Even now if we should happen to pass Buzz Lightyear on the tv, he goes into his little routine!!!

I went to O'hana's my immediate family and some of my extended family. When you eat there, they call everyone "Cousin". Well, that stuck, and we all called each other cousin or greeted each other with an "Aloha, Cousin!" for the longest time!

Thanks to my DD's love for the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, I often catch myself saying, 'ello poppet, when greeting my girls when I return home from work. Sometimes when they get reprimanded and I'm done speaking to them, I'll ask them if they Savvy? Kinda breaks the tension after they get in trouble!

New Years Eve 2002/2003, my wife and I and the couple we were traveling with were eating dinner at the Rose and Crown. We were seated next to a large group that was very noisey. One of them had an ear-piercing laugh, and would just not stop. I think they were all drunk. I finally reached my breaking point, pointed my imaginary remote control at the kackler and yelled 'MUTE!!! MUTE!!!'

The poor woman looked at me with her mouth wide open.

I said 'Yes, you... MUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!!!'

They quieted down after that. Now, if the woman I muted is reading this - I humbly apologize. I was very tired, very cold, very wet, and very cranky.

Now, of course, I am asked to whip out my mute button whenever we are out together and someone is being too loud.

Back when DS was 11 and we were at one of the parks we mentioned possibly seeing someone from back home. Now mind you DS was a VERY talkative child at that time. He kept asking question, "where did you see him? what was he doing? what color hair did he have?" and on and on. Finally after about 5 minutes of solid questions I said "I DON'T KNOW AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT COLOR UNDERWARE HE HAD ON EITHER!" We the later part stuck. Now DS is 26 and no matter where we are or what we are talking about when anyone asks a question someone always comes up with "I don't know what color underware he had on either" and then we all kind of simle and think back to that day at Disney.

This is a little stupid...

I always point to the sign which indicates that you should remain seated while the ride is in motion and say, "Remember the sign!" And now, anytime I'm saying "Be safe" I have to say, "Remember the sign!" I took a picture so that everyone would remember the sign.

And whenever someone does something stupid in my family, we say that they did something like wear a hat on Splash Mountain. Because I was stupid enough to wear my hubby dub's favorite hat on Splash Mountain. (RIP SF49er's hat 2000-2004) My son even came up with an impression he happily performs anytime we're near a pool--he jumps into the deep end, then swims around shrieking, "Oh, no! My hat! I lost my hat!"

I lost my favorite Baltimore Ravens hat (1998-2004) that I wore to the super bowl when the Ravens beat the New York "Football" Giants......went back up and asked a CM any chance I'll get it back, "We find 1000's of hats and donate them to charity".

Well over the last few years my family has become obsessed with the appliance direct commercials. If you have not seen them, they are hysterical. They are ususally on PAX and are about a half hour long. When they come on we sit and watch them in the room. Yes they are that funny. They are updated now, but one of their tag lines used to be Great Prices, YES! so whenever we would find a good sale we would say great prices yes.

Are there any other Sam the appliance man fans out there or are we the only weirdo's.

Just a short statement of how weird we are, I went down with friends this past summer and they were also amused. One of them made me an appliance direct screen tshirt from their web site as a gag gift.
