Anybody bought any old FD glass and then gotten the adaptor ring so you can mount it on a DSLR?

I found a Sigma 28mm f/2.8 lens on ebay for a song - it was under $20. It arrived today. The glass is in flawless condition (as is the focus ring and the apature ring). But my adaptor ring won't arrive for another week (another $8 on ebay).

I've tried 2. One had no optics and so no infinity focus. It was ok for limited applications. The other had optics and they made the optical quality was so bad I didn't use it. The FD lenses in general are not as sharp to start with as today's EOS lenses (even older EOS glass isn't as sharp). You could get away with a much softer image with film and it shows in the glass.

Let us know how it turns out. I've always heard the cheap FD adapters (without glass) are not so great.
