If you have any insurance (medical, dental or vision) through "The Principal," you in all likelyhood have a VSP discount at any eye Dr. that takes VSP. The discount is 20% off the comprehensive exam, 15% off the contact fitting, and some discount (20%?) for frames I think. I just found out that we should have been getting this discount for the past 3 years at our eye Dr. It wasn't in our insurance literature anywhere. I found out randomly when I called The Principal resort for something else.
Our eye Dr.'s office didn't even know about it. They have been nice about it and are looking at refunding us retroactively since we provided them with this information that will prove useful for other patients as well. If you have this insurance, it might pay to see if your eye Dr. is a VSP provider and if so, if you can get your benefit retroactively. If not, at least be sure to get it on a going-forward basis.
