This is our family's first trip to WDW and I want to do everything I can to make it magical, especially for my DS who is almost 4. I want to send a package down ahead of time so that it will be there when we check in - the gift inside is wrapped in Mickey paper and we're going to tell DS that Mickey got him a present for coming to visit.

My questions are these:

1.) HOW should I send this thing? Via the post office? UPS? Fed Ex? I don't really care about the cost - I just really want it to be there when we get there.

2.) How far in advance should I send it?

3.) How many days before check in will they hold this kind of thing for us?

4.) How should I address it? To me, care of the resort?

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated - I'm so excited to see his face!!! :-) We're almost in single digits!!!

to myself c/o of Resort....you can get address online for your specific hotel.

I sent it in a priority box a week before we left via USPS. The pkg was at the front desk when we arrived.

You can choose any of these methods to get it here. I guess it would depend on what the item is that you wnat to send. If it is big or heavy, then I would say the Post Office is your best bet as Fed Ex will cost you more due to the size or weight.

You know, you could just mail your son a card with disney dollars enclsed to the resort. In the card you could write a "note" from Mickey and have your son use the money to pick something out at the World of Disney store.

We also have many shopping centers very close by to property as well. You could run over to the Premium Outlets and really save a bundle at the Disney Character store in there. (most items are 50% off or more)
If you won't be renting a car, there is a bunch of options at Downtown Disney with the World of Disney store, Once Upon a Toy,The Lego store, among others!

You can weigh and measure your box and then check fed ex, usps and ups online. It will tell you the cost and how long it takes to get there. We mailed ours a week before we left and it arrived 2 days early. I addressed it to myself c/o Pop Century, the address and our reservation number at the bottom. We had no problems. Fed Ex was cheaper and we were quite satisfied with it.

I compared UPS and USPS, and UPS Ground was less expensive. Plus, they can tell you the day that it will arrive. If you use UPS Ground, watch the weekends. I don't think that they deliver on Sat. and Sun. I sent ours on Tues., it arrived on Fri., and we arrived at the resort on Sat. Check the web site.

I put my name and our resort dates above the resort name and address. When I checked in, they told me that I had a package waiting.

It was much easier than I expected (I decided to send it at the last minute), and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again!

FedEx has a new Ground Service. It is very reasonably priced. For a larger box, up to 75 lbs., it is less than $10 to send and you can track on-line.
