It probably goes without saying but allow plenty of extra time. My DD works at Birmingham Airport and has received a call this morning to say she needs to get there early as they are not allowing cars to drop off and pick up anywhere near the terminal building so traffic is chaotic to say least. I presume other airports have also taken similar precautions

Glasgow Airport is not allowing anyone anywhere near the Terminal Building. The car which ran into the main door yesterday is still there. We also have hightened security around the airport as well.

Does anyone know if you are staying at a glasgow airport hotel will be allowed to take their car as we had booked 15 days parking too.

At the moment they don't appear to be allowing any cars to enter or leave the airport. I suspect that this might have alot to do with the fact that they are still gathering evidence from the burnt-out vehicle.

There is off site parking in Paisley that they might use. Perhaps it would be worthwhile ringing the airport to ask.

The car has now been removed from Glasgow Airport and my aunt managed to get near enough to collect a family member who arrived from Australia at lunchtime today though I've not got the details as to how near they got to the airport or anything yet.

You haven't been able to get to the terminal building at East Midlands for quite some time. They have a system where you have to go into the short stay carpark and get a ticket that gives you 10 minutes free.
So if you are picking anyone up you need to make sure they have landed and are on their way out before you drice inot the car park - otherwise you have to pay to park.

i suspect this will be the case at all airports from now on.

I think this is a good system!!

That said at Glasgow the bit the terrorists drove down isn't for normal access anyway - only taxi drop offs and emergency vehicles! I'm guessing there'll be some sort of barrier there now! :confused3

I'm happy to walk an extra few minutes from any drop off!!

Usually look forward to hanging out at the airport before my hols - not entirely looking forward to my wait at Glasgow next week! :sad2:
