I am now the proud loanie of my friend's tarp while he's at WDW for the next 3 weeks, so I'll be putting it out on Saturday, June 11 and if any Disers are going to be there and would like a front and center spot for Fantasmic w/o the long wait (there'll be about 3 of us to take turns waiting while others go get food/use the restroom/or even hit a ride), post here or pm me and let me know you'd like a spot, which show, and how big a group you have. It's a 9x12 tarp and I can easily fit about 15 more people on it. One friend might have some people coming for probably the second show, but there'll still be plenty of room. All I ask is that you "check in" with me sometime between 4:15 (I'm leaving it in my car most of the day and should be back with it by then) and 6ish to confirm that you're coming (and remind me which showing) then get there by 8-8:15 for the first show or as quickly as you can after the fireworks for the second--otherwise we invite strangers on who wander in at the last moment.

I'll probably be doing this on June 18 and 25 also and I'll post about a week before for each of those as well.

Wow that is so nice of you! I REALLY wish I could take you up on it, unfortunately I won't be there until September! I would love to be able to see Fantasmic and put a face with your name! Have a great time next weekend.

Do they really let you do that? Put down a tarp that big and just have one person sitting on it at a time to hold the space? I don't know whether I'm happy or shocked :confused3 . Has anyone ever done this before, or seen this? When we were at WDW, and were waiting for our children to be in a parade down Main Street, I had a vinyl table cloth with me, and folded it in half the long way so we could sit on it, and I did save my husbands spot when he went to get something to drink, but 9'x12'??

I need to hear if this is OK, because I'd LOVE to have that much room. I'll drag a tarp from Ohio, if I can use it like that (well, pick one up at the Dollar store while I'm there . . . . I'm not THAT obsessive . . .. )

Thanks,

KC :earsgirl:

I have seen lots of people with tarps at both Fantasmic and the Electrical Parade and wished I knew them! I think its a great idea because then that spot is easily seen as already taken. If you have ever tried to hold down a spot at any parade, show or whatever with nothing but a couple of backpacks you know how tough it is. I don't think they'd let you put something too big but something that would hold maybe 15 people would surely be fine. We have held a large chunk of the bench over in Fantasyland for a group of 14, across from the Matterhorn que, for the parade before because my parents and fil couldn't sit on the curb and needed back support. I am figuring Iceskatejen could make some money by boxing up some desserts beforehand for her version of a dessert buffet!

iceskatejen! you are so sweet to offer it to disers! that is very generous of you! i'm not going but i have to put in my good two cents!

Well, Disney won't let us sell spots (nor would I). What's funny is when we invite perfect strangers on and the realize we don't want anything other than for them to enjoy themselves--some people are very shocked.

No, I'm not going to be there on the 12th. I'm just going on Saturday as Monday day is a school day (I'm a teacher) and I need to have some energy--not good to be falling asleep in the middle of class.

That's very kind of you! We will be there on Fri and Sun, but our passes don't include Saturday, so we'll hit the beach! That's our usual weekend plan.

BTW----DH (teacher) and my 3 kids will be ditching Friday so we can go! Great examples, aren't we!!! LOL!!!! Thank heaven for personal days.
