On the first night of our August trip to WDW, we plan to do a "monorail resort" tour, ending up at the Poly for the EWP and MK fireworks.

We are staying at the DI. I assume the best route there would be to take a bus to MK, and hop on the monorail. However, I have some questions regarding the best way back from the Poly. Since the Poly is closer to the TTC (than to MK), would it be best to walk to the TTC, and bus back to the DI from there? How far is the walk to the TTC? Are there buses to ALL the resorts from the TTC, or would I need to backtrack to MK to catch one?

I know the crowds coming out of the parks will be horrendous, so I'm trying to map out the best route early.

Oh!! I should add that we will have a car. Would driving be best?

Thanks for any info!!

:)

Going from resort-to-resort on Disney transportation is never very efficient. You've got some options, though.

Since you're staying at DI you're right next to Downtown Disney. You could catch a bus to the Poly (or maybe the TTC, I can't remember) from there. Whether you walk or drive to DD mostly depends on how far your room is from DD. I've heard there are golf carts you can rent at DI to go to DD, with reserved parking at DD.

Otherwise I'd recommend driving. You could drive to TTC and walk catch the resort monorail from there or you could book dinner at the Poly and park there "legally." They might limit you to a 3-hour parking permit, though.

Be sure to go to the observation deck at the Contemporary while you're touring the monorail resorts.

I appreciate the reply, Jeff.

We've actually decided to go ahead and get a PS at Ohana's, take the car, and park at the Poly. This really won't leave us time for resort touring (with a 3 hour time limit), but I really want to catch EWP and fireworks from the Poly beach. Since the WDW trans system will be mobbed after that, we decided we would rather have the car there.

Many thanks!! :D

If you do want to visit the GF and/or Contemporary, don't worry too much about the three hour limit meaning *exactly* three hours, especially if there are still a number of free spaces in the lot.

If you're in the lot for 3:30 or 3:45, you should be fine - but ask the CM at the guard shack to be sure. Just tell him what you'd like to do, and as long as you're not going to be in the lot for five or six hours, my experience is that it should not be a problem if there are still spaces in the lot.

You can park at the Polynesian or the other Hotels on the Monorail track in most cases w/o a PS in one of the hotels restaurants. You can tell them at the gate that you want to check out the resort and the shops and they usually have no problem with that. They may issue you a 3 hour parking pass, but that doesn't sound that that would be an issue for you anyway.

I'd take the monorail or the boat directly from the Poly to MK and catch your bus from there.
