Is the tonga toast the same at Kona cafe as it is in the counter service at the Poly?

I'm not sure if we'll be able to do a full sit down meal but I must try this yummy sounding delight!

We were just there and the Tonga Toast was the same! Actually looked more fresh and hot at the Cap'n Cooks!;)

What is tonga toast??

Banana stuffed sourdough bread, deep fried and rolled in cinnamon and sugar; it is served with a choice of meat side, and heart medication. If it kills me to eat it, go ahead and build me a pine box.

Can't wait to try this on our first stay at the Poly this fall! Glad to hear its just as good at Captain Cook's- guess I can cancel my Kona breakfast ADR!

They previously had the same type of French Toast at Boatwright's, under a different name (it is gone now I believe). I just wanted to caution everyone. It is REALLY REALLY covered with the cinnamon/sugar mixture. I gave up trying to scrape some of it off and just couldn't eat it, it was way too coated for me. That being said, trying it at Capt. Cook's for half the price might be a good idea for anyone not sure if they will like it, but who "has" to try it (like I did! ;) ).

Did I read somewhere that you can request it grilled as an alternative to the fry? Anyone tried it that way??
