We FINALLY downloaded Ding! and have already seen some great fares, so I know we'll be using this frequently. But I have a couple of questions about how Ding! policies compare to regular SW booking policies. I'm not talking about those expensive, refundable tickets, but the cheapo, internet only fares. I'm counting on you guys to help me out.

1. Can you book Ding!s for other family members who are still living in the stone ages without a computer? My IL's visit frequently, and we always book their tickets for them. If they could use the $25 Ding!s I saw this weekend, they might be able to come more often (hmm, on second thought. . . ;) ).

2. How do they handle cancellations/date changes? I realize we'd lose the Ding! discount, but could we at least use the credits towards another ticket? How easy is this to do? Last summer, I rebooked our flight home 3 or 4 times because the price just kept dropping. We ended up with a credit that we used in December, but it was quick and easy to switch to the lower fare, and that was priceless.

3. What about credits going the other way? For example, if I book an internet only fare the moment September dates are released next month, if a better Ding! comes along can I cancel the internet fare and use those credits towards the Ding!? I know we'd have leftovers, but we'll easily use those up.

Thanks for all the help and advice! I'm looking forward to joining the ranks of the Ding! nation! (Cause I just don't have enough to obsess over about WDW alone.) :rotfl2:

My brother has booked me for flights before. Not Dings, but SW doesn't have a problem with booking for others (only the travelers will get any credit, though).

I've read here and on a cruise message board over and over that you can cancel and have the funds on your account, for use (immediately) for other fares. Buying a ticket, as soon as the dates come out, for our travel with the intent to cancel then use those funds towards Dings is my absolute plan. I found that out here and on the cruise boards I'm on. :)

Just be sure to put ALL the airports you're interested in into Ding, so you can be sure to get back home. :)

teehee, I like your location. Drives me bonkers that DC gets to be "washington" while WA has to be "washington state". Just call DC "DC" and be done with it!

Alas, I always think of BC first when it comes to your city. Sorry! :)

I cancelled 2 dings in the last 2 days and rebooked. No penalty at all it was GREAT! I did not know I could but someone on the disboards said they did not charge so I called and they were right!!

Thanks! We book for others all the time, so I'm glad to hear Dings are handled the same as all the other flights.

:thumbsup2 That's exactly what we're planning on doing--book asap to make sure we're on the flight, then change if/when better fares/Dings come along.

I know what you mean--we're totally second class citizens compared to DC'ers. As if it's not bad enough living so far from WDW. ;)

Thanks! I'm glad to hear they're as easy to change as regular fares. Lookout Ding--here I come!
