Our downstairs outside AC unit is blowing cool air. Meanwhile the air coming into the house isn't very cool and the AC is working very hard to keep the temp even close to where we have the thermostat set.

Now just recently my DH switched our thermostat to the digital kind. Is it possible he messed up some wires and is causing this problem??

I'd hate to have a repair person come out only to tell us it was something we could have fixed ourselves.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting would be appreciated!

TIA!

Oh...I have had my share of A/C troubles as our house is brand new and we have NEVER had A/C before....

#1) FILTERS...they may need changing. Once a month so check the filter.

#2) the thermostat should be on AUTO and then select a temp.

So try any of those suggestions. We ended up ultimately installing ceiling fans as well to keep the air circulating 24/7. My house is large and the upstairs despite the A/C running seemed as though it could be cooler. C.Fans are awesome.

if the air coming off of the outside unit is cool instead of hot,, and the pipes leading from it are similar in temperature, one is not signifigantl;y hotter than the other, you are probably low on freon and need a repair man.
