FoP and knee replacements

We are taking my father who has had double knee replacements to Disney. He has been many times before but FoP is knew for him.

I vaguely remember when we road FoP in October that the bike sort of grasps your shins and has you sit with your knees at less than 90 degrees - am I remembering that correctly? He is 70 and is able to walk without trouble but I am not sure he has flexibility to bend more than 90 degrees with his new knees...want to make sure he will be okay.

Anyone have experience with this?

My husband has had a knee replacement and Parkinson's and rode with no problem.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! This is really helpful! I’m happy to hear that it hasn’t been a problem for you!

And extra good news about the outside seat for him to try - I totally forgot that was there!

As a side issue, having had 2 knee replacements, if your dad can't bend his knees past 90 degrees then he needs to go back to the surgeon or physical therapist. Otherwise he should be fine.

I have a knee replacement and get about 90-100 degrees bend and unfortunately am pretty tall with long legs. I really had to wedge my leg in and was NOT comfortable, but I made it! It was definitely worth it. Also, the test seat outside is not exactly the same as the actual ones. I fit into that one way easier.

No problem with my knee replacement, and I have ridden several times. As a pp mentioned tho, the angle at with he is able to bend will make a big difference. Definitely needs more than 90 degrees.

As a PT, 100% yes. Definitely should be more than 90 if not over 100. Most I see (and I see a ton) are at about 110-115 within 2 months. Less than 90 would raise other concerns other than riding a ride.
