Last summer before we went on a Disney/Universal holiday, there was a very informative thread here about what everyone found to be the most comfortable footwear while in the parks.

I took the advice of several people, and purchased a comfy pair of waterproof Tevas, and loved them so much, I just got a second pair. I don't like running shoes in the summer, as my feet just get too hot with all that walking around. I didn't get sore feet, or a single blister.

Besides Tevas, does anyone have any suggestions for comfy footwear? I plan to do all the water rides, so waterproof is a must. Soggy running shoes,, ick.

Also, has anyone worn birkenstocks around the parks? I have ordered a pair for 'non water ride' days, and am curious.

Last yr at Disney my niece had birkenstocks and found them great for all the walking. My DD had Keds sandles and found them great as well. myself and dh had reeboks and suffered:p

This yr I bought myself a pair of the Keds, they are very very comfy and dry quick, the only material on them is the strap across the top part of your foot. Dh insist on suffering for he hates sandles of any kind:rolleyes:

For the budget minded, the Keds are only about 20.-29. depending on where you find them!:smooth:

I just bought a pair of Merrell's based on advice on these boards and received them the other day...these are by far, the most comfortable sandals I have ever worn!! I love them already!! :)

got new sneakers right before orlando, big mistake got huge blisters. went to go out and buy sandals (which were really neat) in the park

Columbia sportswear makes some awesome rubbery type sports sandals. VERY comfy. DD wears about a 7 Womens and could fit a childs 5 so even cheaper - and prettier.

We love the Nike straprunners!

Very comfortable under the Florida :sunny:

I have to agree - these are the most comfortable sandals I have ever put my foot in. I bought them last year for our trip to Disney, after the now famous footwear thread suggested them.

Gotta save them tootsies!

This is a little off the thread but something that I feel may help the sneaker wearers. My DH and I always wore broken in sneakers to walk around the park and we always got blisters on on our feet. The I read a "tip" in a newsletter that has saved our hurting feet. The person suggested buying the white stick deodorant /anti-perspirant and rubbing on all the spots on your feet where you normally blister. Well, I'm game for anything that will save me pain. We started doing this last summer (dog days of August, figured it was appropriate) and believe it or not, neither one of us got a single blister. We tried it again this past Christmas with the same result. Any white stick deodorant will work. I usually buy the Arm and Hammer brand.

Well, Last Year I wore those old nikes, the Cortez Classics or something like that, and ended up getting blisters cuz I just got them. I just recently bought Lugz Birdmans and wore them and they seem to be pretty good shoes... but Im afraid that if I were to go on JPRA or something.. they may get wrecked.. So im probally gonna have to stick to my Nike Air Zoom Generation, They are very comfortable.. Ive never had a problem.. BTW, if you dont know what Im talking about.. They are the LeBron James Sneakers.

There is a trick to comfortable shoes.......

They cannot be too old (blown out support)
They cannot be too new (not broken in and conformed to your foot)

sneakers in the blazing heat will give you blisters for sure - your feet will be smoked.

These are my favorites of all time, its like you are walking on air:

Mephisto/ Whitney - for women, my husband wears Mephisto/Sharks

Complete support, breathable, adjustable, traction, total comfort.

The best shoes we have ever worn for walking.

I always wear my Birkenstocks to theme parks. I have one pair that I've had for 9 years that I have worn to many parks. Just wore them last week at IOA and USF. Mine are the backless kind so I have to sit on them on Dueling Dragons and Dr. Doom. They are extremely comfortable. My feet never hurt after a day in the park. I wore my sneakers one day last week (I can't remember why) and my feet hurt so bad. Never again. Birkies for me from now on!

I also like my Nike Straprunners! My husband, daughter, son, and sister also have them. Another son has similar sandals from Land's End and my 4yo son has Timberland sandals that he wears all the time.
