Footwear at the park - sandals?

I was looking online at some Sketchers sandals and flip flops. I'm so unsure. For those who wear sandals or flip flops where do you get them (any brand)? For some reason any flip flop I've owned has hurt my feet. Do you get the beachy kind or something else? How do these hold up during a day at a park? Do your feet hurt?

I really wouldn't recommend wearing flip flops in the parks, as there is a lot of walking involved and they tend to hurt your feet.

However, I would highly recommend sandals made by Teva. Everyone in my family has a pair of these and we wore them often on our last trip, both in the parks and around the pool. You can find them at www.teva.com

Hope this helps!!!

I wear my Birkenstocks...... they were terrific the last time we were at WDW.
Tevas are great too....
WHatever you decide, make sure you get a pair of sport sandals that were made for walking, and just not a pair of cheap flip flops!
Take care of your feet on vacation!

Hi, as far as sandals in the parks go, I would recommend Born, Clarks, or Keen. The Keen are kind of a cross between sandals and gym shoes - they are also available in amphibious models. The Keen aren't as cute as some others, but they are very comfy.

I buy all my shoes at Zappos.com now. They have free shipping,(very fast - sometimes overnight), no tax, and free shipping returns.

I have actually worn a pair of Skechers sandals around WDW. They were comfy for me - very cushy. But overall, I really do find the more expensive brands are better shoes. You do kind of get what you pay for. Look for the good brands on sale.

Just make sure the shoes are comfy from the start. If they need to be broken in, they aren't right for you and will wind up rubbing you wrong after extended wear. I would invest in a really good pair because you will be on your feet a lot during a WDW vacation. If my feet are achy, it makes me feel cranky.

Good luck & happy shopping!

Another birkenstock fan here, I take 2 pair with me and switch off each day. Never get a blister or sore feet. There are a couple of threads on 'crocs' and 'keens' footwear that you might want to check out...I also noticed that 'crocs' knockoffs are being sold at payless shoe stores. I can't wear a enclosed shoe so I am always on the hunt for sandle type shoes, never wear flip flops though.

I always wear cheap flip-flops (Old Navy) or Birkenstock-like sandals (made by Bass) when I go to WDW, but I live in FL and wear flip-flops all the time. I have wide feet, so I'm not comfortable in shoes that enclose my feet.

If you already know that flip-flops hurt your feet, don't even think about wearing them at WDW.

Whatever you choose, make sure they are well broken-in before your trip, and bring back-up comfy shoes/sneakers, just in case.

My origianl reebok sandals hurt me so bad on the first day last year that i wore my flip flops - 8 hours in those and my ankles hurt so bad I seriously thought DH was going to have to hire a wheelchair for me. So we went to the Nike outlet store and i bought children's sunray sandals in a lovely shade of lilac for about $16. I have never looked back I wore them every day, they're ok to get wet too and i took them on my last beach holiday, the same sandals are coming back to the world with me this year. I put them in the washing machine for the first time today and they came up like new. I have had nike sandals before and as far as i am concerned, they are the only brand to get.

I have worn Nike's for about 3 years and 12 trips later have no problem with my feet which I always seemed to have burning, sweating, blisters etc. I sent away for the Teva's that were on sale and wore them for a day and almost got a blister! They have a ring on them and it was rubbing..went right away and bought a new pair of Nikes..They are the best..got the new Stataim(sp) and did not know they were on my feet..Marianne

I am definitely a sandal person. My feet get too hot in sneakers and then I'm uncomforatable all over. I have a great pair of Clark's sandals ( kind of like leather flip flips with a great cushy sole) They were very comfortable!! I think also long as you have something with a good stable, cushy sole you would be fine with sandals. I love all the athletic style sandals they have now. Land's End has some that are very reasonably price and if you look on their overstock site you can sometimes find them on clearance for under $10.

Thanks for the recs.
I know zappos is a great store with free returns...but with a trip coming up in 3 weeks I hate to order, return, order again, etc. I think I'll go try those Nike sandals and various styles. Or just end up with sneakers :)

I'm glad to hear the sketchers weren't too bad. Sketchers are the cutest of course :) And I could wear those again.

Hey! I never thought I could wear sandals in the park, but one day we went straight from Blizzard Beach to MGM so I just wore my flip flops there. The ones I got are surprising comfortable, from JCrew http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod63223751&catId=cat70356. I think it just depends if you are used to wearing them or not, mine are not very hard (foam cushiony bottom) and have ribbon straps instead of hard rubber ones so they don't give me blisters. Wear sneakers the first day and then maybe try sandals. Good Luck and have an awesome trip :flower:

I think the name of them was hurricanes..someone had posted the site and they were on sale for 14.98 so I thought Iwould try them..they are sandals and they were so horrible compared to my Nike's..might be good for some people but not for me..you get what you pay for I guess..Marianne

At WDW and has had a great experince with them. :goodvibes :wave2:

Another Nike fan...never a blister. I always get them for my son (5) too. Anything else has given him blisters, but the Nike strap never has.

I wear Teva Terra Fi - I forget which Teva DW wears. Since buying Tevas, we no longer have to grief with blisters and MoleSkin!

I think I know what to use my Footlocker gift card for :)

I love the Teva Hurricanes, very comfortable and great support too.
