Football starts Tonight.....GO STEELERS!!!

Geez, sorry.. I had no idea what it means or stands for. I understand now.. but fans really shouldn't be throwing anything at players :confused3

You're right about that. Fans should throw nothing at players, and I cringe to see bad sportsmanship. But, I do hold a professional football player to a higher standard than a fan in the stadium and that stomping thing really bothered me. I just hope they don't do it again tonight.

The Towel incident rubbed me the wrong way. That Towel was created by Myron Cope (may he rest in peace) to raise money to support a school for autistic kids. Stomping on that Towel and bragging about it is a low blow to not only the Steelers but also to the memory of Myron and his charity work. :sad2:

ITA!!!

Kind of a funny story: Myron Cope's daughter visited my son's school last year. There was a chance to ask her questions. My son asked her what she thought when that Titan stomped on the towel. She said she thought it was funny. And my son said, HUH? Cope's daughter responded, she knew with her daddy looking down, nothing good was going to come out of it and the towel gods would see to it. LOL

Me too! And I live here!

Myron Cope did not create the Towel to raise funds for the home, that part came later. (20 years later)

But either way the proceeds of that towel has earned millions for Allegheny Valley School where his son resides. And Myron Cope has always been a huge contributor to that school plus many autism charities, and if I had to guess most of those proceeds came from the towel.

And I wonder how many people, other than the steelers and their fans, know the "history" of the towel? As a fan of an opposing team, we view the towel as an "in your face, here we are " kind of arrogant trash talking type of thing. So when "we" see the towel it makes us think not so nice things, none of them very respectful.;)

But Myron Cope was a not in your face type guy. He never wanted alot of publicity about all the charity work he did. His private life was just that , private. Alot of people never knew the extent of his charity work. Most was publicized after his death.

Like I said, most people outside Pittsburgh probably know nothing about Myron Cope.It really isn't about him at all. It's what the Steelers' fans have done with the towel, blame them. I'll compare the towel to the Atlanta Braves Tomahawk chop and that annoying chant. It's a get riled up type thing. It ticks off the other team and their fans and that's exactly what Steelers fans want.

Blame the Steeler fans for what? :confused3 Thats a trademark of us Steeler fans. Our Terrible Towel! Granted we are not the most humble fans in the world, but then again why should we be.

For the way the towel is perceived. You can't have it both ways. Throughout sports, rival teams mascots and trademarks are targets. You throw it out there, acting all arrogant, in other teams faces and that's what you get back. Too bad the Titans player didn't wipe his bum with the yellow rag, now that would have been hilarious!:rotfl:

It was a good game, a very close game and we made you work for that W ;)
If only we'd won the cointoss.... :headache:

Whatever! :sad2:

let them wipe whatever they want with it because we got the WIN and the Titans didn't ,, :rotfl:

Now I see, from past posts, looks like you're a Ravens fans. Well that explains alot. :rolleyes1

Explains what exactly? Why I don't like the Steelers? Yeah;) of course. Why I don't think the "they dissed the towel" is a big deal, no. I already explained my opinion, which had many valid points. It's nothing to do with which specific team I support, but with sports rivalries in general.

You may have gotten the win, but barely, and certainly not by the huge margin the Steelers were bragging about before the game. Let's just say I hope the Steelers play that "good" against us;)

Just curious, why did you feel the need to do a back search on me? that's a little odd. I would have answered any questions you had if asked, which you failed to do. Oh, well congrats on last nights win, hope it's the last this season... GO RAVENS:cheer2::woohoo: Purple Fever!!!!

I back searched because I figured you were either a Ravens or a Browns fan. Usually those are the only 2 types of fans that show so much animosity toward the Steelers. Sure, lots of people don't like the Steelers. But your posts seemed just more personal. Not sure where you seen the Steelers were bragging about winning big. Yea, us fans are obnoxious, but that is unlike the Steelers to predict they are going to win period, yet win big.

And lots of people back search on here. Been on here for years, and usually its done for people who are argumentitive and people will search sometimes to see if its a trend (like a trouble maker). Me I was just being nosey.

Hey I don't like the Ravens either so the feeling is mutual. Seen a funny shirt at our local sports teams store that has to do with Baltimore. Actually, we're going to be in WDW for the game on November 29. DH and I are putting the kids in the kids club and we're going to the ESPN club to watch the game. Thats a good time if you've never done it.

We were on a DCL when we played you guys in that horrible rain at Heinz Field.

A little friendly ribbing is fun. I may have to buy that shirt and wear it to the ESPN club. BTW, don't hate us because we're 6 time Super Bowl Champions. ;) Go Steelers ! Have a nice weekend!

LOL, ok I didn't think I was being too argumentative, just making a point. I'm certainly not a troublemaker, at least not a big one lol:rotfl:

Too funny, we are going to be in WDW on 12/27 and were thinking of watching the game at ESPN club. Do you pay a cover to get in, or can you just get lunch, some drinks and stay for the whole game?

I think I'll have to buy a towel to take with us;) for the game. I won't tell you what we'll do with it, depends how the game goes and how :drinking1 we are! :rotfl:

Have fun in WDW(how can you not?) and don't be too upset when the Ravens win on 11/29;):cheer2:

You forgot the Seahawks fans. :rotfl:

Looks like Baltimore is joining the towel bandwagon as they are now selling Ravens towels with Flacco's name on it.

Some vendor was trying to get onto the towel bandwagon at a Carolina Panthers game last year... I don't recall who this towel was ribbing, as I didn't buy one.

GO PANTHERS!!!!!

And when they play the Cowboys, hope Baker whocks that huge screen that Jerry Jones' stupid rich butt put in the middle of the playing field! :lmao:
