I have noticed the food called "funnel cake" and "tonga toast" - can anyone explain what they are please :goodvibes

Never had either. But when you walk past the Funnel Cake stand, you can see and smell it being made. It smells very similar to our fresh doughnuts, and is made in the same way. Batter mix is zig-zagged across a fryer full of boiling oil and fried. Apparently though, it does not taste anything like our doughnuts :(

tonga toast is a deep fryed banana sandwich with cinnamon.
ok there are probably better descriptions but thats the jist!!:rotfl2:
funnel cakes are yummy, but greasy- 1 will feed a family of 5!
dont forget you dole whips, ice cream sandwiches and pinnochio fries.... you are going to love ddp!!

More like 2 or 3 bags. They are from Orlando Ale House, cost around $12. Waitress wouldn't take our order for anymore food until we had eaten the Nacho's, 3 of us ate and ate and still left this much, no way could we eat anything else, glad we didn't order entree's.

Our next planned trip is August, no idea how we are going to cope. Will just keep looking at photos and dreaming.

Oooh funnel cakes!! I'm still nagging DF to take me back just so I can pig out on them :rotfl:

We also had the one at Universal with the ice cream, but I liked the Disney ones better with strawberries and cream... mmmmmm! :cloud9:

Funnel cake is always on our list when we go.

It is basically doughnut/pancake batter that is piped into hot fat so it makes a sort of 'nest' type shape. We think it is very similar tasting to doughnuts, even though the texture is crispier.
It is then loaded with whatever takes your fancy, however powdered sugar, ice-cream, squirty cream and fruit are the norm.

Here's a couple of some that we have had to add to the growing collection.
