Food & Wine Festival...Is anyone going in 2006?

When does this festival take place and could someone explain how it works.

Do you have to buy a "special" ticket for this event. How does the food/wine tasting happen and is it a terribly busy time to go. We went over Spring Break and the crowds were Large... we just got back on Dec 3rd and the crowds were amazingly low and so pleasant to be there at that time. Not sure how crazy/crowded it gets.

If you were planning on going what DVC would you stay at to be the closest to the F&W Festival.

The F&W Festival takes place in October and part of Novemeber at EPCOT. You don't need an extra ticket for most of the F&W Festival, just admission to EPCOT. They have several booths set up throught the World Showcase with food and wine and sometimes beer from various countries around the world even countries not represented at EPCOT. There are also several other events like dinners with famous chefs and wine tastings that sometimes cost extra and require an advanced reservation.
You can walk to EPCOT or take a boat from Boardwalk so that would be the best DVC place.

It's fairly crowded during the weekends especially during the festival.

Now that WDW is a "day trip" for us, we'll definitely be there. As already mentioned, all you need is admission to Epcot. The booths are set up all around World Showcase and offer, for a price, samplings of food and wine from all the usual Epcot countries and many others. Take your time, enjoy and have a designated driver if going by car.

Any of the "Epcot" resorts would be a good place to stay. The Caribbean Beach is a nearby moderate and in the deluxe range you have the Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Clubs, and the Swan or Dolphin resorts.
