What a bummer that vacation is over!
We had a great time 11/8-12 and boy did we EAT!!! (Okay, and drink!
)
When we arrived on 11/8 we went to the Boardwalk area (we were staying at YC) and had some snacks. We had fries and dogs and nachos from the stand there. They make it fresh, so expect to WAIT! It may take a while to make stuff there, and some people were getting really mad. Now, if it was super-fast, it would be from sitting under a heat lamp, which they don't do here... thankfully. Yuck! I love the fries here! YUM! And the corn dogs are pretty awsome too. (note: some lady had to bring back her daughters hot dog because it was too fat. not 'fatty'... just too fat. this girl was 14, the mom said. so, the cast member did trade her for a brand new, "skinnier" hot dog for the fat one, with 1 bite out of it.
.)
There were 3 of us that ordered something then we all shared/tasted. That way, we tried alot more and didn't stuff our selves. This worked just great for us.
On 11/9 we just had a bagel for breakfast at the YC. Then, we went to the F&W at Epcot about noonish. We tried: Lamb chop with mango chutney, cheddar cheese soup, Seared Scallop with pepper relish, Crab cake with broccoli slaw and red peach sauce, Alscasian Onion tart, and fish and chips from the stand there. We also tried the rice cream from Norway, which I've heard so much about. Delish!!We loved everything! The lamb chop was slightly fatty, but still yummy. The scallop was beyond yummy! We grazed all day and we came and went as we pleased. We also went to MK for Spectro and dined on dogs and fries from Caseys for supper! I love that place! We found a neat little seating area right on the water, which I took for the smoking area. It was a peaceful area with a great view!
On 11/10 we had breakfast at the Boardwalk bakery. We shared the egg tortilla wrap and a crossiant. Then, we did the F&W again.... also sharing as we went: Goat cheese polenta, spicy shrimp on the barbie, Golden shrimp, Yasai Maki Sushi, Nachos from Mexico, Cannoli siciliani, fish and chips again, Rice cream again, Potato and Dubliner cheese root vegetable cake, and toasted oatmeal and whiskey flan. The goat cheese polenta was wonderful and we had it again on 11/11. The flan was so-so, and you could sure taste the whiskey. I'm not crazy about jello and it had a gelitan consistancy to it. We also had fries at the Boardwalk stand again. YUM!
On 11/11 I can't remember what we did for breakfast. We did F&W again... I loved this!!! We had Pan fried Florida grouper cake with citrus slaw, cold sesame noodles with vegetables, braised stuffed cabbage roll, smoked polish kielbasa with potato and cheese pierogi, pizza with pepperoni, beef shish kabob, vegetable couscous, fish and chips yet again, and a chocolate truffle. The couscous was rather bland.
We did try various wines, beers, a port and ales but I didn't keep track of that too well. I can tell you I liked just about everything I tried. I loved the Food & Wine Festival and I would go back every year. In fact, I just may!
If anyone has any questions, please just let me know. I know this isn't the most indept report, but it's my first, so bear with me. I'm hoping to do a full report on the reports boards.
