Food tasting question : please help!

Ok heres my issue:

We are going to WDW in May this year and will not be able to go back 6 months before the wedding to do a food tasting. Is it possible to get a list or something from Disney in May so that we could just go to different restaurants at the theme parks and resorts and just try out the different foods for dinner? I figure if everyone in our family orders something different from the restaurants we'll be able to basically have an impromtu food tasting session each day of our trip. Do you guys think this will work?

Also, how would this change if we decided on a buffett style dinner? Do you choose what items are part of the buffett or is it pre-chosen so we wouldn't have a choice? Is buffett cheaper or more expensive? We're leaning towards AK Tamu Tamu courtyard for the reception if this makes any difference. Thanks!

Many of the items on the menus are not at the different restaurants, they are separate catering menus. The only exceptions would be if you were actually using one of the restaurants as your reception location like the private rooms at the California Grill. That being said, if there is an item that you love from a Disney restaurant you can generally have that item at your reception but some people have said it sometimes doesn't taste exactly the same. So you can still go to different restaurants and try things out to get ideas.

All Disney menus can be customized. You don't have to go with their set menus, for either buffet or plated meals. They are meant as guidelines. I don't think the buffet is necessarily cheaper, and everything would depend on the actual items you choose. Please keep in mind at certain locations you can only have buffet meals, I'm not sure if Tamu Tamu is one of them.
