I have the dining plan booked for May 06. I think this is a good deal, but I want to consider all of my alternatives. How do you eat cheap in the parks. It will be 2 adults and 2 kids (4,7). We can share food and bring in drinks. If I am not going to do the dining plan, I want to save as much as possible. I just think we might waste too much food and what will we do with 3 desserts each per day??? :confused3

Sharing meals...and eating CS instead of TS meals will save. We thought about this...we even considered packing snacks and even breifly thought of bring PB&J makings to save money. I've alos heard the turkey legs are great...and not to spendy....

But for us...after looking over the meal plan and thinking of all the places we COULD try while on the meal plan....we thought this was our best route. I also REALLY like the fact that ALL the food is already paid for...so no need to budget for meals. I know there will be some things that we'll have to purchase (Special drinks, turkey legs, and dole whips)...but for the most part ALL of our meals are covered...and heck after were stuffed from all the food we may not even want anything "extra". We too plan on sharing alot of our meals...therfore streching our credits to more places...and wasting less food in the end.

I know you asked about cheap eating in the parks, but our family always eats breakfast in the room. Stop at a grocery store or have delivered by wegoshop.com or some of the other ones. Used a large cooler, ice from the machine. Left the cooler behind at the end of the trip. Bagels, cereal, danish, etc. Plus bringing in water bottles , snacks and drinks in with us. With a family of five, we saved a ton just by doing this.

Trails End Buffet at Fort Wilderness.

10.99 for adults(breakfast and lunch) is a bargain. That is what you pay for a Burger meal at some places in the park. 6.99 for kids.

These are great ideas. I think we could save a lot by bringing in water bottles and maybe 20 oz cokes. If you can get free cups of ice, this would probably be the best thing to do. I just think if you do not have to buy drinks, you can actually afford to eat!
