Food Porn & Other Stories: A Dining Review ~ 1/19-1/28/08

Great reviews - you have a great writing style and such a fun sense of humor! :thumbsup2

:offtopic: Sooooo, since you recommended Stephanie Meyer so much, I bought Twilight this past Friday night. I went to Borders the very next day and bought New Moon and Eclipse!!! I just finished the last book - yes, I read non-stop for four days - and I am hoooooooked!!! :hyper: Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation....and introducing me to Edward - aaahhh....and I would love to participate in the book club, if I may! :flower3:

I really enjoyed reading your posts. Even though I sat beside you while you wrote these reviews...you made me laugh out loud. It's fun to relive our food adventures through your zany and well-written threads...except for the pictures of me looking like a fully cracked nutter  ! I can't wait for August! We must read The Host and discuss. Everyday is an adventure with you.

I heart you. :flower3:

Heather

I heart you, too!

Thanks! I may have to try the original...maybe with horsey sauce on side just to be safe!

Can't wait for more reviews in August! Have fun! And stay cool in this unbelievable heat we have already!!!!

I don't think you can go wrong with the original! :thumbsup2 Sauce on the side is always a safe bet.

It was pretty warm today. We had such a nice cool spring that I think I started to take it for granted!

Oh jeez, how sweet! I am sitting here waiting to bring my son to the bus and I am in tears...you brought a tear to my tired blood shot eyes. :)

She's a keeper! :goodvibes

I've really enjoyed your reviews. Bluezoo looks fantastic, I'd love to try it someday.

Thanks! Try bluezoo! It's awesome!

I thought both Fresh and the Afternoon Tea weren't on the Deluxe DDP. I am assuming you'll pay out of pocket.

You're absolutely right. We'll be at the WL for a few days before our package starts at the Poly. We got an unbelievable AP rate that I couldn't pass up. ;)

Looks like an amazing lineup for your next trip!!!! I'm really excited about the '09 foodie trip.....:woohoo:

Me too! Me too! :hyper:

I am so looking forward to the next food reviews. I'm doing deluxe for Free Dining when I go for 5 days/4 nights on August 29-Sept 2 with my foodie mom. I'm a super procrastinator with my food reviews so that August one won't be up until December :rotfl:

I went in June of last year with my DFi for our anniversary, we were on the DDP, and I did take pics of pretty much everything. Well, it is now June 2, almost a year to the date of our trip and I have yet to write it up!

Have a great time on your August trip! How fun to go with your Mom! :cutie:

Procrastination is an evil thing! I suffer from it myself. Isn't there a pill or something we can take for that?

Omigod that is some list! Can I go with you? I will be sitting on pins and needles until your next review :goodvibes

I can't wait to tackle that list! We are weight watchering it for the next 2 months, so I'll be dreaming about Disney food even more than usual...

Great review, thanks. Now I am wondering if we should go to Blue Zoo the food does look really amazing. I am looking forward to your August trip.

Thank you for reading! :) Don't wonder! Make an ADR for bluezoo today!

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the Twilight series. So addictive, right! Now you're dying for the last book like the rest of us, I'm sure! You are welcome to join the book club as soon as it gets off the ground. I'll be sure to let you know!

The BlueZoo pics & descriptions were awesome! The crab looked great, as did the Fish, although I sure didn't see anything Simple about it!

I'm sad that the review is over. But Woohoo:cool1: we'll be treated to another one very soon! That's a great dining line-up you have there!

I'm in for a book club, but because I'm cheap would prefer to do paperbacks over brand new hardbounds. Either way though, I'd like to get in on it.

I'm also in for a foodie meet in Oct 09!

Seriously, everything we've tried at bluezoo has been amazing!

I'm so glad you are up for both the meet and the book club. I understand about the hardback issue. Maybe we'll reconsider the first book for that reason. I want everyone to have easy access! :goodvibes

I'm like many of our greedy readers here. I'm really bad when I find a book that I love. I'll go through that sucker in a day or two & if it's a series, I'm in trouble. Lately, I haven't been feeling well & having to take lunesta to sleep, which luckily curbs my speed-reading. I spend more on meds but less on books.

First of all ... I've been slacking on the PM for the bookclub ... had a visit from the Crohn Goblin last night and it's been a very icky day at work. TMI? :lmao:

Anyhoo, I want to check out a couple of features in Yahoo because I think we can set it up for a live chat and I know that we can set up a calendar that will email people reminders. And ... I thought we might be able to have a little more freedom of discussion there as opposed to the CB here. Not knocking the DIS, but there are certain subjects or interpretations that might not be considered appropriate here. And I hate having to censor myself ... as that last sentence should show! :rotfl2:

As for a non-hardback reading suggestion ... how about starting out with a tried and true like Rebecca or The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn?

Just thinking out loud ... kind of.

leaving to go home now .. :cool1:

Hmm, looks like I've stumbled upon the 2009 Foodies trip, too. Those dates are lookin' mighty good to me.

Ditto! Hey my b-day is in November, so that is kind of close to all of you Libras. I think you need some Scorpios like me to show you how much fun it is to be unbalanced.:rotfl2:

Rosa Regale and chocolate. Two of the best things in the universe! Throw in some crab-legs and you would have the food trifecta!

Having trouble sleeping is the worst! So is spending money on meds! Hope you feel better soon.

I think Rebecca is a great idea. We could even co-lead the first discussion. :goodvibes I also agree about the need for an independent discussion forum.

If you'll set up the Yahoo group (let me know if I can help in that respect), I will PM everyone to let them know the details.

I have loved your food reports, thanks for sharing them with us. Congratulations on your dream fastpasses, that must have been so exciting. I will look forward to reading your reviews in August, sounds like you have some amazing restaurants planned.

Hi, I've been lurking on here for a while and finally decided to post as the book club sounds like a great idea. Will it be a problem me being in the UK? I think we tend to have books published over here around the same time as the US. A transatlantic book club would be kinda cool don't you think.

I must congratulate you on your food reviews - they are fantastic. I am even thinking of doing one myself when we go again in Aug 2009.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but this is to Brenda (Oybolshoi). Your food reviews got me addicted to this board (I usually only hang out on the UK boards) and I have now started reading your blog. I hope Planky is doing ok - is he back from his trip yet? Maybe he could join the book club as well as I think the injection of clulture would help him in his future endeavours!!

I have made it through to page 6!!! :cool1: Your reviews are amazing! What a great group you also have following along!

We are leaving in about 3 weeks so I'll be taking pics to review Raglan Rd (my fav), La Nouba/House of Blues (for our 1 year anniversary), Blue Zoo, Cape May breakfast and Yak and Yeti lunch.

I just added Y&Y yesterday based on your review and pics and also my DS10 asked to go to Nine Dragons yesterday (this is a must for my guys since they love Chinese food) and it will be closed when we go. Y&Y seems close enough food wise.

I'll have to check these out...I just started the Harry Potter series. I am going to read the first book, then have my son read it. I think it will be fun for us. Then we will watch the movies since we have never seen them. I thought this would be a nice motivator since DS needs to improve on his reading.

OK, the dog is barking and DH is growling...be back later to start reading again.

Have a great day!
Hey Lauren! When you go to Y&Y stop at the bar and ask for Chad! He's half of my sweetie tem that relocated there after the storm. He and Michael both work there- but I've only found Chad (A bartender, of course!) working. Tell him Lori said hi:yay:

Unfortunately with DS's baseball I haven't had time to even read the newspaper in the last 4 years. I did, however, buy a book for the first time in ages, just two weeks ago, which will probably take me 6 months to read.;)

Kathy, you and Sheryl both might like a series that I love (it's my book smut-Rick's term, not mine). Relatively light reading but very entertaining- Elizabeth Peters, author. Amelia Peabody, series. Strong female character, good humor, mystery-ish. If you wanna try let me know I have them all in paperback (there's 12ish), I'll loan ya one.

Oh, and sign me up for the meet and the club!

We will, I love taking trips with my mom, we are going to Vegas on the 16th for a week. Can't wait! I've never been.

If there is a pill for procrastination, I'll take it tomorrow :rotfl:

Good, because I was born on the day Felix Unger left his wife, vowing never to return. :rotfl2:

Guess I'll have to check out Rebecca from the library...

Thanks! I have enjoyed all of your comments! The Dream FPs were exciting mainly because I never win stuff! My sister on the other hand is seriously lucky. She's always the 10th caller at the radio station. Maybe she should start playing powerball more often....

I think it would be wonderful to have you as a member of the book club! The internet makes the transatlantic part entirely possible! :goodvibes

I agree about Brenda's reviews. They are what got me hooked, too! ::yes::

Oh, and sign me up for the meet and the club!

I've never been to Vegas either & would love to go. (I think I went with my parents once, but I have no recollection of it, so it doesn't count!). Have a great time!

Oh my gosh! I was gone for a week and I missed the rest of your trip and the news about the book club!
Please count me in for that as I have been looking for one to join!
Have you read the Eragon series? I was so disappointed in the movie!
Thanks for the wonderful foodie reviews! Your cheese fest at home looked absolutely wonderful!

Thanks! I wish I had some of that brie right now....

You are officially counted in! :thumbsup2 I'll be sending out PMs this evening with details about the book club.

I've heard of Eragon (and how crappy the movie was to fans of the book), but I haven't read them yet. I'll have to look those up...:surfweb:

Sorry you've been feeling like crapola. The yahoo group sounds good to me. Either book sounds good too. I'm sure I have Rebecca around here somewhere, but it might just be easier to go buy it than finding it!

Thanks! :goodvibes Details would be way TMI! But if there is a procrastination pill I need to add that to my med. repertoire!
