Food Porn & Other Stories: A Dining Review ~ 1/19-1/28/08

Are you interested in the book club, too?

Unfortunately with DS's baseball I haven't had time to even read the newspaper in the last 4 years. I did, however, buy a book for the first time in ages, just two weeks ago, which will probably take me 6 months to read.;)

Oh no! The foodie report is over? Noooo!!! I want more food porn!

Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful trip with us, although you did have to battle illness, but that didn't keep you down too much! And Dream FastPasses! Awesome!

Looking forward to reading your next adventures in dining! :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing your great reviews and pics. :worship: I'm going to miss them. :(

Hope you and your DGF have a wonderful stay at The Poly! :cool1: I'm looking forward to your next chapter in Food Porn when you return.

the food at dolphin looked wonderful!!!!

really enjoyed your reviews and photos - thanks so much!

Oh my freakin goodness, I cannot wait to try Blue Zoo in a little over 3 weeks!!! Thanks for another great installment. Sad its your last...

I love Earl too! I worked in that bldg when it was the Gourmet Pantry. I get all tear eyed when I go there.

I am in for the book club. If I miss something about it, can you please PM me the info? You have to make it idiot proof for me:) ...I'm kinda of ditzy. :rolleyes1

Thanks again! I am off to my son's baseball game...the first playoff...Have a great night all!

Great report! I enjoyed your reviews and especially all the pics. Thanks for posting them. :thumbsup2

I'd be up for The Host ... I just gotta get myself to Borders sometime this week (Jay will love that, I was just there on Wednesday and bought two books which I've already raced through).

BTW, thanks to you Honeybee, I not only re-read Rebecca this week but I went out and bought Rebecca's Tale. It was approved by Du Maurier's estate and all-in-all it's not a bad read. It could have been better but it could have been worse.

I'll PM you later about the Yahoo thing - it's pretty easy. I'm a mod on another group and trust me when I say that if I can do it, anyone can!

You sound like us. I think we bought 5 books this week. Of course Heather does manage a bookstore, so the temptation is always there....But I did secure a copy of The Host today, which I'm pretty excited about. It's new and in hardback, so a little pricey. But it's 40% off for Borders Rewards members.

I love Rebecca. I only wish the Hitchcock film version would rerelease on DVD! Rebecca's Tale sounds interesting. It's from the 1st wife's p.o.v. I'm guessing. I'll have to check that out as well.

I'd love to proceed with the book club. Whenever you have time, just let me know and I'll help set it up. :goodvibes

LOVED your reviews! thanks so much for sharing. I am very curious to see how the book "club" would work! I love the idea...
:cool1:

Thanks! If we can get the book club off the ground we'll definitely let those who seem interested know, probabbly through a PM.

question: is the horseradish sauce on the original more saucey or mayoey (is that a word?) I love roast beef, cheddar and horseradish but not a fan of mayo!

thanks!

The horseradish sauce didn't taste overly like mayo to me. It was creamy and mild, but distinctly horseradishy.

I'm in!! I just need to find the book. I'm a library girl so I'll just go search.::yes::

I know, I loved Wicked too. And what makes it even better was I got to see it on stage in April! I am sooooooooo in love with the soundtrack.:goodvibes

Great! Now we just have to get organized!

I'm jealous! I'd love to see Wicked on stage! Did you read Son of a Witch? It's on my very long "to read" list....

Unfortunately with DS's baseball I haven't had time to even read the newspaper in the last 4 years. I did, however, buy a book for the first time in ages, just two weeks ago, which will probably take me 6 months to read.;)

I understand. You're just such a pleasure to have around that I want you to join!

I can't wait to stay at the Poly, and I know you can't either! I'll be sure to take lots of pictures of all the tropical drinks we have at the Tambu lounge! ;)

In this final chapter, I will try to entice you to join me and DGF on our next foray into the exciting world of Disney dining. Our next trip will be for 13 days in August, 10 of which will include the Deluxe Dining Plan! :cool1: That’s right folks 3 TS meals a day, everyday! :faint: Actually, we are spending quite a few of our TS credits on signature dining, so it’s going to be more like 2 TS a day, give or take. That makes for a record number of ADRs and a whole lot of eating!

Stand back!

Here’s our list of restaurants so far:
Wolfgang Puck Dining Room Upstairs
Fresh Mediterranean Market (L)
Artist Point
Garden View Lounge Afternoon Tea
‘Ohana (D)
Tokyo Dining (L)
Tutto Italia (D)
Yak & Yeti (L)
California Grill (Twice!)
Kona Café (B, L, & D)
Jiko
50’s Primetime Café (L)
The Plaza (L)
Citricos
Raglan Road (L)
Narcoossee’s
Le Cellier (L)
Flying Fish
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Coral Reef (L)

I will of course document all of this fine food and drink in photographs and writing right here on the DIS. And I promise not to procrastinate so long this time! :rolleyes1

I want to thank all of you again for being such a wonderful audience and bunch of commentators. I had a blast writing my 2nd dining review and an even greater time getting to know many of you! :goodvibes

* If you are interested in joining the book club that has been recently proposed on this thread, just make sure you post your interest here, if you haven’t already. (Or you can always drop me a PM!) Nothing is cemented yet, but with a little help from my friends, we may get this thing going in the near future. Details will be PM-ed to you when we got’em.

** If you are interested in joining the Foodie DIS meet tentatively scheduled for October of 2009, then read the paragraph above and substitute DIS meet for book club! :thumbsup2

Peace! :hippie:

I really enjoyed reading your posts. Even though I sat beside you while you wrote these reviews...you made me laugh out loud. It's fun to relive our food adventures through your zany and well-written threads...except for the pictures of me looking like a fully cracked nutter  ! I can't wait for August! We must read The Host and discuss. Everyday is an adventure with you.

I heart you. :flower3:

Heather

Thanks! I may have to try the original...maybe with horsey sauce on side just to be safe!

Can't wait for more reviews in August! Have fun! And stay cool in this unbelievable heat we have already!!!!

Oh jeez, how sweet! I am sitting here waiting to bring my son to the bus and I am in tears...you brought a tear to my tired blood shot eyes. :)

I thought both Fresh and the Afternoon Tea weren't on the Deluxe DDP. I am assuming you'll pay out of pocket.

Looks like an amazing lineup for your next trip!!!! I'm really excited about the '09 foodie trip.....:woohoo:

I am so looking forward to the next food reviews. I'm doing deluxe for Free Dining when I go for 5 days/4 nights on August 29-Sept 2 with my foodie mom. I'm a super procrastinator with my food reviews so that August one won't be up until December :rotfl:

I went in June of last year with my DFi for our anniversary, we were on the DDP, and I did take pics of pretty much everything. Well, it is now June 2, almost a year to the date of our trip and I have yet to write it up!

Omigod that is some list! Can I go with you? I will be sitting on pins and needles until your next review :goodvibes

Great review, thanks. Now I am wondering if we should go to Blue Zoo the food does look really amazing. I am looking forward to your August trip.
