The more the merrier! :goodvibes

:yay: Another birthday to celebrate, that means more to eat & drink!!!!

F&W fest will be like 1 big b'day party for us! :cool1:

Woohoo!! I'll be 26 next year so it's my "entering late 20's" kick off party!!!!

I'll be 34 next year. Does that mean I'm entering my mid-30's? Oy! :faint:

Hi to all my new friends! :goodvibes Kat has briefly filled me in on the meet and I would love to join you guys! I already told my DH that he has to babysit!!! :lmao:

Honeybee30...I skimmed through your report and it looks great :thumbsup2 (I looked at the pics...gotta go back and read). Can wait to get me some great Disney food and drink in a few weeks!

Love the spread!

Here we have: Rosa Regale (The star to whom all others have been paired), cheese (Danish Blue, Cypress Grove Midnight Moon goat cheese, Frommage de Meaux brie), El Rey chocolate, D’Anjou pears, strawberries, water crackers, and balsamic vinegar.

I am also a lover of Rosa! Here I am :) :

Awww, thanks! :p I hope you had a nice weekend away. My mom grew up on the Jersey shore in and around Asbury Park.

I'm looking forward to reading The Host. Tell me how you like it. :goodvibes Right now, I'm reading The Boleyn Inheritance and it is really good! But I'm a sucker for historical fiction/ romance (not harlequin though :crazy2:)

so...the host is much better than i anticipated...actually, it is fantastic!!!!! i love historical fiction too (except cheesey romance...ala harlequin hahahahaha)...anne boleyn and the whole tudor time period is my favorite. i must say that i was a sucker for the other boleyn girl...

Yay! I'm finally caught up, and I realized that all the ladies here seem like Sisters From Other Misters as far as I'm concerned. :grouphug:

We're all slushy and foodie and cheesy. And as I once told Brenda, "Your literacy is showing!"

When I read about your thesis, I thought that you'd probably enjoy Jasper Fforde. If you haven't read the series starting with The Eyre Affair, run, don't walk to your bookstore or library to read these suckers. I was hooked by the end of the first page.

And boy your food porn didn't disappoint! You'd fit right in with all the peeps at F&W, and I would definitely think you'd get on the Larded and Loaded Tour with the rest of us. ;)

Mine is 10/9! Lot's of celebrating to do! :dance3:
Your birthday is 10/9? Me too! :goodvibes

That's a heluva lotta Libra's in one place! Should we standardize our scales? ;)
Spooky...:rolleyes1

I second this suggestion! The Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde is awesome, I really enjoy them.:thumbsup2

Ooh! Thanks for the new author suggestion....I'll be sure to check out Jasper Fforde this weekend!

Have you seen the Showtime show The Tudors? Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry the VIII...yummy!

I know! Isn't it great!

And as I once told Brenda, "Your literacy is showing!"

 That's dirty....

I'm not familiar with Jasper Fforde, but I'm always looking for a good read, so I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Well, thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! I love F&W fest & it will be so much fun to meet everyone!

Your birthday is 10/9? Me too! :goodvibes

You, me, and John Lennon...all born on 10/9! :woohoo:

I third them. Any literature lover will adore the Thursday Next series.

Definitely a lit lover!

Woohoo! Three Fforde Ffans can't be wrong, can we?

3 recs in 1 day must be a good sign! I'm convinced! :goodvibes

Ooh! Thanks for the new author suggestion....I'll be sure to check out Jasper Fforde this weekend!

Maybe in addition to a 2009 Foodie DIS meet, we should start a book club! :scratchin

I'm going to train and practice very hard, kinda like drinking/eating boot camp!

Oh yeah, training that's what we'll call it!!! ;)

I'm looking forward to reading The Host. Tell me how you like it. :goodvibes Right now, I'm reading The Boleyn Inheritance and it is really good! But I'm a sucker for historical fiction/ romance (not harlequin though :crazy2:)

:welcome:

That's going to be next on my list! I LOVED The Other Boleyn Sister! I'm a sucker for that historical fiction stuff too, but just as you said not that harlequin crapola.::yes::

Hello all! I’ve been away from my computer all day (oh the withdrawal), but I love the evolution of the 2009 Foodie DIS meet that is happening here!

I hope that means you're in! :hyper:

No pain, no gain. We've got to loose a few before we can gain a few! :rotfl:

I hope it works out! I'd love to meet all you crazy DIS foodies!

Yes I'm in! This year will be our third October trip for the F&W fest. We can definitely plan another for next year!:cool1:

Hi to all my new friends! :goodvibes Kat has briefly filled me in on the meet and I would love to join you guys! I already told my DH that he has to babysit!!! :lmao:

Girlfriend, We could have Sooo much fun!!! You HAVE to join us!!!! party, party, partey!!!

so...the host is much better than i anticipated...actually, it is fantastic!!!!! i love historical fiction too (except cheesey romance...ala harlequin hahahahaha)...anne boleyn and the whole tudor time period is my favorite. i must say that i was a sucker for the other boleyn girl...

My feelings exactly! Is there a spy-cam in my house??

Maybe in addition to a 2009 Foodie DIS meet, we should start a book club! :scratchin

::yes:: This is almost wierd. A bunch of Food lovin, slushie drinkin & book learnin peeps, all in one place!!! :goodvibes

Just finished your report! Loving it so far! :thumbsup2

PS: Can I join in on the book club and meet talk? I am a food lovin, (grand marnier) slushie drinkin and lit lovin peep also!

Anyway, thanks for the great reviews!

Kathy sent me here too! I just read everything and loved it!:rotfl2:

Ya'll are too funny!

Once again, I show up late for the party....but I brought Rosa and Magic Shell with me!

Sooo, 2009....Think it's too much to convince the man that we can go to DL the first weekend in Oct and then fly from there to WDW for the meet?:hyper:

huh?huh?huh?::yes::

PS-Maybe Eeyore was missing from your trip to Crystal Palace because he was the sausage?!? (Evil, I know, but you gotta work with what ya got....:sad2: )

I'm officially signing up for the book club. I've always wanted to join one but I can't seem to find one in my area that is even remotely appealing or not located 50 miles from our house.

What's the first book ... who's leading the discussion ... how much time do we have ... ??? :hyper:

I'm not half-joking here. We could actually set up a Yahoo Group for this and we could also keep track of the foodie-boozie-bookie meet for next October at the same site. :thumbsup2

Going to rest now ... horrid horrid weather-related headache has sapped all desire to write about food.

But ... before I go: one of the best pieces of historical fiction that I've recently read is a book called Duchess, A Novel of Sarah Churchill by Susan Holloway. It's very well written and the characters are fully developed and engaging.

I showed up late for the party as well and can't seem to catch up on the thread...the pics are nice along with the people!

Magic Shell? I thought that was only for hubby to carry around the World Showcase? :rotfl:

Anyone wanna guess how the Magic Shell is used?:lmao:

I'd like to leave it to the imagination!

Sheryl, 2 glasses of wine and I deleted your whole post!!! Jeez, are you sure you want me to come???

The meet sounds like a blast!

The Boleyn Inheritance picks up pretty much where The Other Boleyn Girl left off. It's from multiple points of view. And very addictive! popcorn::
