Food Porn for Nothing! What foods has Disney taken Away?

I know it is a little thing. But I was so upset when they changed the chocolate cake at Animal Kingdom. They always had the best chocolate layer cake, I would dream about it at home. We went last summer and it became a little chocolate cake type thing in a plastic bowl with a lid. Nowhere near as good.
I must say on the bright side, a friend just gave us some of a chocolate cake they got at COSCO(of all places) and it was so close I could close my eyes and be sitting in the covered picnic area of Flame Tree BBQ with a view of Everest eating this and not know the difference.

They ruined my beloved Boardwalk Bakery couple of years ago - use to have great donuts,, cinnamon yummy's and buns etc. We used to go there every morning - now I haven't stepped foot in the place for about three years...who goes to Disney to get a Krispy kreme - that's really unique.

Oh, cdtommie, my hubby and I have been saying this for years! We miss real donuts at the Boardwalk Bakery ... you know, the uber-fresh ones that stick to the roof of your mouth and have to be washed away with cold milk or hot coffee. :cloud9: We don't even go there for breakfast any longer when we stay at the BCV; we just buy croissants from Boulangiere in France and eat in the room.

I miss those donuts so much - they were such a wonderful vacation treat.

Dang, I miss them now..and I never even had them!!!:lmao: but seriosuly, what a shame:sad1:

My point was that I made my adr's based on what I researched, through the dis, phone calls to wdw,all ears and other sites.

*******

We knew what your point was. You actually were being very helpful. I always use ALLEARS.NET to get an idea of what is on the menu and how much it is.

Thanks!

I don't know what else I could have possibly done, besides being there:rotfl: I work for a gourmet chef so I'm used to frequent menu changes, and respect/welcome it. It just stinks when it happens at your happy place, and isn't replaced with something else that will knock your socks off! I'm cool though. I made sure every adr I made had several things that I liked in case of emergency:rotfl: Plus, there are soooooo many yummy snacks, I'm quite sure this momma won't be too sad for too long!:cutie:

I don't get some of the complaining...I am sure people are disapointed when their favorite things are taken off the menu or their favorite restaurants close, but that is the way the restaurant business works all over.

Does anyone really expect for things not to change over the course of 5 or 10 years? Things changed from 1975-85, From 85-95, from 95-2005 and beyond and will keep changing. Pre-dining plan, pre-Eisner....

It is a bigger impact for some because they remember that trip they took 5 years ago and what they ate like it was yesterday, but the real world doesn't just stay the same forever.

As far as greed being a motivating factor; Disney is a publicly held company with a legal responsibility to their shareholders to maximize profits. And you know who is to blame for this perceived greed? We are...we keep drinking the kool-aid, so to speak. On one hand, we complain about the rising prices and the lack of options, on the other hand, we are on the phone at day 180 booking all of our ADRs for our upcoming trip and paying for vacation packages 8 months out. From Disney's perspective, they are making a smart business decision to continue to raise prices and remove options if people are still willing to pay for it (all).

If you really want to scapegoat...look in the mirror.

Getting back on topic before this turns into another "I hate Disney and Disney hates me" thread...I heard they stopped serving the grilled poundcake with carmel sauce at LTT for lunch....I only got to have it once (last year):sad1: ...but YUM!

SkierPete

I gotta say, I never usually care when I hear WDW canceling a food & I'm not usually even a big fan of desserts at all, but I REALLY wanted to try this one :sad1:

I"ve been searching at least for the recipe so I can make it at home, but so far no luck...
