Food poisoning - how long does it last (possible TMI)

I am pretty sure that I have food poisoning. I ate some mediteranian chicken salad Saturday and a few hours later I started experiencing intestinal issues. No other sick feelings except a lack of appetite. My Mom and DS were with me all weekend and are fine. But I still have the intestinal stuff. I woke up at 1 a.m. and 4:45 am. with it and then had it again at 8:00 a.m. My DH is starting to think that its viral maybe.

How long does food poisoning last?

For me, the acute nausea/vomiting/diarrhea phase lasted about 36 hours and then it diminished over the next 5 days.

Have you tried clearing out your system?
My doctor recommends 12-24 hrs of clear liquids and then the BRAT (Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) diet until your symptoms disappear.

I was sick like that for 3 weeks after taking an antibiotic but my system finally got back to normal.
