Just got back from a "not so magical" trip to a HOT and CROWDED Disney.
Oh well... Can't win them all. At least the food was good! I don't have many. We brought 90% of our food from home. No work=no money.

Here's one of our meals in the park:

Be sure to read the story behind it after you check out the pictures. You will NOT believe what we paid for this meal!!!

LOCATION:
Downtown Disney
Planet Hollywood
Entree: Turkey Club Sandwich

Freebie anniversary split! (Heavenly!!!)

OK, now for the story.

We were all about saving money on this trip. I booked this trip in March. Jan, Feb, and March were among my best 3 months in the past several years. So I booked the trip, and paid it in full. Then April 1st (fool's day I may add) the phone just stopped ringing. No more work. Nothing. Then the bottom falls out and every possible expense rears it's ugly head. So i *SHOULD* have cancelled this trip, because we REALLY couldn't afford it. (Anyone else here understand this at all???) But we wanted to go. So we did. This was one of only a few meals we ate in the park.
For dinner we split 2 of these Turkey Clubs. I only took a picture of one, but there were 2. We each (4 of us) had HALF a sandwich and half an order of fries. It was AMAZINGLY GOOD!!! We all left the table full. Not stuffed mind you, but full. The place was hopping, so they were really slow to bring us our food. So we kept asking for Pepperoncinis! (sp?) You know, those little light green chiles you find at the salad bar. We were all famished, and by the time the food arrived we had sucked down 2 full plates of chiles! Ohhhh they were GOOD!!! I had forgotten how much I love those Pepperoncinis.
So we also ordered iced water for drink. (we usually do) And, we used our $15 off coupon which we got in with our Disney trip itinerary. Total price after the coupon...

drumroll...

$10.50:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: For a family of 4 to eat till full!!!
We left a $5 tip, which was (do the math) a 50% tip. Standard tip is 15%. We left a 50% tip. Even still, it was only $5. I felt guilty leaving only $5, even if it was a 50% tip. I wanted to leave more, but we didn't have the proper change. She didn't get rich off us. Hopefully her next table would be some business men who would rack up the bill in alcohol.;) By the looks of the place I'd say she still did pretty good that night.

Oh... and the sundae.... It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! We gave the children a couple spoons full and split the rest.
Who says you can't do Disney on a budget???:confused3

Coral Reef - we were disappointed in the service here, so I think that influenced our overall enjoyment of the meal. If you go, which I hope you do, I hope you have a different server than we did. He missed my DH's food allergy and didn't offer to help with a spill/broken glass (our neighbor gave us their extra napkins), and then didn't ever get us new napkins. Not to be picky, but I think that's simple stuff. Maybe I'm wrong...now onto the pics!

Main dishes: Barbecued Salmon Sandwich and Grilled Mahi Mahi (back dish)

Yachtsman Steakhouse - we really enjoyed this meal. Everything was really good. We didn't take a picture of the cauliflower that we had, and it was SO GOOD!!! I encourage all to try it when/if you go as a sidedish.

Restaurant Marrakesh - this was an interesting adventure as we had never truly had Moroccan food before. The tastes were intense for us, since we were thinking that we would be experiencing what we'd eaten before at the Tangerine Cafe...the menus are nothing alike, so definately ask your server for details. The service was really good and helped to make the meal.

Night in Casablanca - Roast Lamb Meshoui, Chicken Kebab, and Seafood Bastilla and vegetable couscous (first picture)

MAGIC KINGDOM:

Casey's Corner

Mini-review... Crowded (but everything was), cramped seating, much of seating in the direct sunlight, nosy neighbors staring at what your eating and watching your kids misbehave and have meltdowns....
Oh, and the most unfriendly of CMs...
But the food was GREAT!
I loved the spicy hot dog relish. I actually sucked down the last little cup of it straight!:rotfl2: The corndog nuggets were pretty good. The hot dog was pretty good as well, especially after I piled on the spicy relish, mustard, and kraut. I'd certainly do it again.:thumbsup2
