Does anyone give food gifts for the holidays?

I was reading on another board (non Disney!) and folks were talking about food gifts. some people make their own cordials or Lemoncello to give to people who are drinkers. Others do those jar gifts.

I did chocolate covers pretzel rods, oreos etc for the teachers a couple of years ago. I gave a small gift along with it.

Anyone else have any good ideas?

I've done the traditional plate of cookies/candies many times.

Once I baked a bunch of gingerbread boys and girls in varrying sizes. I used my friend Martha's recipe. Stewart that is ;) I packed them in tin and gave them with icing, sprinkles, licorice, red hots, etc. I gave them to a friend with 3 little girls. They loved it.

When I had a bread machine I made dinner rolls for teachers and Sunday School teachers, the minister, etc. They LOVED that. I would just make the dough in the machine, then form the dough into balls and bake in the round Pampered Chef stoneware. I think its called the Deep Baker or something. So it was a dozen rolls in a round shape. People really liked that.

Katy Belle, that's a really cute idea!

Once, when my boys' teachers were moms of young kids, I did a basket with 2 jars of homemade cookie mix and decorations and cutters.

Another year, I made homemade bread (in the machine) and put it in a basket with homemade jam.

Here's a good one.

Rollo candy or Hershey kisses
mini-pretzel twists
whole pecans

Place parchment paper or aluminum foil on baking pan.

Place 30 pretzels on the paper or foil. Preheat oven only to 250 degrees. Top each pretzel with a Rollo or Kiss. Bake 4 minutes. Immediately, press 1 whole pecan onto each melted chocolate piece. Kisses will look the same, just push down with pecan.

Place in refrigerator to cool quickly.

Bake 1 pan at a time, unless someone is helping put the pecans on quickly.

Store in air tight container.

Another food gift I do is white chocolate covered strawberries. I don't do them for Christmas because they are out of season! I usually do them for teacher appreciation with a corny tag that says, "You are a BERRY special Teacher."

i usually go to walmart and buy the little jars with handles and covers (seasonal) and fill them with hot chocolate and marshmellows, then i take spoons and dip them in chocolate and give them as gifts, people seem to like them and ask every year for them,:wizard:

I give out "theme baskets" for xmas every year (last year was Movie Night!) this year its Christmas eve & Christmas morning baskets -- they will have goodies like homemade truffles, peanut brittle, cookies, peanut butter balls, chocolate covered apples & pretzel rods and Chex mix and the morning portion of the basket will have homemade applesauce and muffins with some hot cocoa packets & tea bags..
