We are staying at the YC and I’m wondering if I’m missing something....the only morning place to get food is the YC Market and it doesn’t open until 7..

when I went to mobile order, there was almost no choices are far as a hot breakfast- just waffles and a plate of eggs and waffles..

anyone know of a place in this hotel open before 7? We’ve stayed in several other Disney hotels, all of which had a large cafeteria style place.

TIA!

YC/BC/BCV doesn’t have a “cafeteria” style dining option. The Market at Ale & Compass (YC) and the Beach Club Marketplace (BC/BCV) are the two resort quick service options. Ale & Compass Restaurant, Ale & Compass To Go, and Private Dining are also options for breakfast. I am not sure what time Private Dining starts, but I suspect it may be 7am just like the other options.

One of the unfortunate current byproducts of Disney’s COVID adjustments has been limited hours and limited menus at the resort dining locations.

Here’s the full list of what’s open/closed in case helpful:

OPEN / AVAILABLE
Ale & Compass Lounge
Ale & Compass Restaurant
Ale & Compass Restaurant To Go
Beach Club Marketplace
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop (restaurant only, walk-up window is not open)
Hurricane Hanna's (grill/hot items not available, walk-up window is not open, order all items at bar)
Martha's Vineyard
The Market at Ale & Compass
Private Dining (Room Service) (note: Disney's website is incorrect, Private Dining is available at YC/BCV)

CLOSED / NOT AVAILABLE
Cape May Café
Crew's Cup Lounge
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Beaches & Cream Walk-Up Window (restaurant is open, walk-up window is closed)

You can get Ale & Compass food to go too and also go over to Beach Club market but nothing is open before 7am. Even the food court at Pop doesn’t open until 7am.

I think Picabu at Dolphin was open 24 hours but don’t know what the hours are in Covid world

The large food courts are more a value & moderate hotel thing. Deluxes will have more TS options with a smaller quick service.

Picabu is only open for breakfast Sat. & Sun. 7 am - 11 am. right now. The little grab and go at the Dolphin - Fuel opens at 6am. Java at Swan opens at 6 am.

Boardwalk Bakery opens at 7am.

The YC does have 24 hour Private dining aka room service available. You can preorder the night before.

To place an order, press "Dining Options" on your in-room phone. An 18% gratuity, $5.00 delivery charge and 6.5% sales tax will apply to all delivery orders. A minimum order may apply.

A common complaint of people who have stayed at value or moderate, and have a spurge stay at deluxe. They expect everything to be nicer, better. A reasonable assumption.
The bus service is terrible at deluxe, much worse than value or moderate.
Quick service, compared to all the options and variety at value or moderate.
No food courts at deluxe.

Bus service is highly variable even within the same tier of resort and is a nonstarter complaint to me. Reading posts on the boards it seems like every resort has terrible bus service or stellar bus service. That’s because most bus issues have little to do with the actual resorts so much as dispatch and just plain luck, which can impact you regardless of where you stay. I’ve never had an issue with bus service at the deluxes I’ve stayed at, meanwhile the worst bus experiences I’ve ever had on site were at POFQ, a mod people tend to rate very highly for bus transportation. Personally I think mods have the worst service due to their behemoth sizes and all the internal stops.

Re: food...this is really subjective. I am not a food court person even outside of Disney and never have been, because I would rather have quality options vs. quantity, and the latter was my experience at Disney food courts outside a couple of standout items (the deep fried french toast and beignets at POFQ). Plus, I find that when you factor in all of the places to actually get food at deluxes, it’s often not far off from the number of options at food courts, it’s just not all available in one location. Some of the best food I’ve had at the resorts has been from deluxe pool bars.

But the major beef I have with Disney food courts is that they’re never open late enough if you’re a night owl. More than once I came back from a late night at the parks to see all but one station closed, if not the whole thing. Meanwhile at most deluxes you do have options late at night, whether 24 hr QS, the lounges, or private dining. While the choices are usually limited, at least it's there. I’ve never been starving and having to go to Disney Springs like I did at POFQ.

I do not mind food courts (though having allergies I have to talk to the chef anyway), but I would never expect one at a Deluxe.

Deluxe does not scream “food court food” to me.
