Food at the sunrise safari and AKL concierge?

We just booked Animal Kingdom Concierge for the first two nights of our July trip 2003 (we arrive on a Friday and don't like to use our DVC points at BWV until Sunday...we save points that way).

We are incredibly excited, our first time at AKL!! It was the travel channels "Great Hotels" special that convinced us to book here on Concierge as well as some of the reports on Deb Wil's site (we taped this on TIVO and are showing the kids tonight where we will be staying...these kids could write their own travel guide to Disney...they are HUGE dis fans too!)

My question is...

What is the food like at AKL concierge? I've read some things about it, but would like to hear more (I love to talk about FOOD!!)

Also, has anyone been on the Sunrise Safari? What is the food like at the Tusker House breakfast?

Thanks in advance...I lOVE DISNEY and feel like a little kid on Christmas right now.

I haven't been to AKL yet...will be in TWO WEEKS though, but not concierge. I just wanted to tell you that jdads2 has some trip reports up on the TR board which describes the sunrise safari food and concierge food too. You might want to check it out.

you will love it!

Hubby and I did AK concierge last April. It was wonderful - we are still talking about the expresso machine - makes just about anything you want - heard it cost $20,000!!!

The food is wonderful - there is a fruit drink that we got every day - I even make something like it at home now! We also did the sunrise safari - great breakfast....you won't be disappointed.

Ok I'll admit - absolutely green with envy! We talk about going back to AK concierge - how could we stay there and not do concierge - way too spoiled!

We stayed at AKL Concierge for two nights back in August before moving to BWV as well. It was wonderful; we were completely spoiled and stuffed! There is almost always food out - the only time that was a little sparse was midday when I guess lots of people are in the parks. But even then there was trail mix, seeds, crackers and chips to snack on. Don't miss the fantastic cappuccino machine that makes great fancy coffees at the touch of a button. The African Smooth drink was really good, but we got more mileage out of the neverending ice tea.

We also went on the sunrise safari and I would suggest that you not miss it. Aside from being a very fun and informative ride, the food at Tusker House was great and plentiful. They have you normal breakfast foods (eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.) and also things like biscuits and gravy, frittatas, etc. Can't remember everything that was there, couldn't even TRY everything. It was well worth the money, at least to do once.

We were at AKL Concierge for 10 days in August!! The food in the lounge is very good and quite plentiful and the CMs are very attentive and eager to please. Everyone is right about the espresso/capuccino machine and the African Smoothie is a wonderful treat! We really enjoyed the Sunrise Safari and the breakfast at Tusker House was great! Tons of food and all of it good! We enjoyed our stay and the Sunrise Safari so much that we are adding three days at AKL Concierge on the end of our May trip just so we can experience it all again!!! Have a wonderful time!!

My mom keeps talking about a Mango Smoothie that was on the Travel Channel AKL great hotels. Is this available at AKL, other then during the Sunrise Safari?? I am assuming yes but....
