Food and Wine? Sounds Divine! An October TR - 12/2 A PTR Link!

All caught up again! I am slowly, slowly getting back to my regular life. :lmao:

The photos of little Calvin are just too cute and I love the determination in which you documented your way to accomplish the 30 stamps in your "food passport". :thumbsup2

***On my last update, I left us off over near the Land Pavillion, with intentions of riding Living with the Land. We couldn't take DS inside because he was napping in his stroller. So we decided to do the next best thing..***

It was only five minutes till 12:00 so we didn’t feel like we should be judged for wanting some beer at this time of the day. Right?

DH really enjoys the Audible Ale from Red Hook, as do I, so he ordered two

Today was our last full day at WDW and we needed to get to work on our F&W passport. So wasting no time we headed to

DH really, really wanted the Scotch flight, but wanted to get some food in him first before trying this. What a level headed bloke! Guess he’s becoming an adult :sad2:

The only thing I wanted to try on this menu was the Scottish Banoffee Tart with Bananas, Scotch Whisky Toffee, Walkers Shortbread Crumbles and Sweet Cream

Holy Calrissian, this was delicious. I can’t remember who told me about getting this. Alison? PIO?? Whoever it was, thank you! :worship:

It was already getting super hot at this point so we found a place in the shade for DM to sit down and watch DS in the stroller while we gathered more food

I don’t know why I took a picture of this, but here you go

Look what DH got from Hawaii!

Ugh. The Tuna Poke with Seaweed Salad & Lotus Root Chips. Refreshing, cool, tasty. Perfection. We even gave DS a taste and he enjoyed it too! DM declined. Not surprising. I was so tempted to order another one but knew we needed to hit other booths so I restrained myself.

Next up

The Gyro! Oh my gosh, so good! It was so basic and simple, but it ended up being one of our favorite items at the F&W festival.

I wanted to get a drink over at the Refreshment Port , and I ordered the Frozen Dragon Berry Colada featuring Bacardi Dragon Berry Rum

Definitely refreshing on a hot day but i’m not usually a frozen drink gal. I like my wine, beer and liquor but not in this form. But DM loved this so I passed it on to her. I’d make up for it later.

Canada was our next booth

We ended up getting all the food items here

Seared Rainbow Trout with Bacon, Frisee 7 Maple Vinaigrette

Le Cellier Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with Truffle Butter Sauce

And even though it was scorching outside, the Cheddar Cheese Soup

The trout was just okay. I wasn’t overly impressed by it. DS seemed to like it though so he finished it for us. The beef and the soup was amazing!

Told you guys he liked it

ETA: Wow, DS looks so little! Waaaaah.

Hi Karin! I know the feeling, it took me a while to get back into things too. Hope things are getting back into a schedule for you with work :goodvibes

Beer O'clock - love it! :lmao:

You did a great job keeping up with your passport. I never finished mine. I tried. I really did, but when Christine told me that you don't get anything but a final stamp, well - I sort of lost my steam. Some day I will do it! :thumbsup2

Yummy food samplings! I am power reading now (running out of DIS time), so I have to go back and re-read a little better. All I know is I'm starting to get bummed that I don't have a park ticket to visit Epcot next month. BOOOOOO!

Wow! You really did hit a lot of the items for F&W.

Glad you liked the Banoffee tart. I think it might have been both of us telling you about it.
Dang! I missed that Tuna Poke. Looks divine. Oh well....next time.

Just remember....it's beer o'clock.....somewhere in the world. ;)

Anyone remember last year in October, my family and I went to WDW for the Food and Wine Festival?!

:confused3

It was only five minutes till 12:00 so we didn’t feel like we should be judged for wanting some beer at this time of the day. Right?

:thumbsup2 It's 5 o'clock somewhere.

Holy Calrissian, this was delicious.

:lmao::rotfl2: I am totally stealing that phrase.

Look what DH got from Hawaii!

Ugh. The Tuna Poke with Seaweed Salad & Lotus Root Chips.

:sad2: With Kalua pork/pineapple and Kona beer available? Ay caramba. We need to work on these menu choices.

Canada was our next booth

We ended up getting all the food items here

Steak and cheese soup? I stand corrected. Much better.:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

ETA: Wow, DS looks so little! Waaaaah.

Sorry to tell you, but it gets worse. :sad1:

Lovin' the food choices! I think the Banoffee Tart was by far one of my favorite items, along with the filet & cheese soup from Canada. I managed to find a recipe for the tart on Pinterest but I haven't had an occasion to make it yet.

I've already made the mistake of looking at the menus for this year and man, do I wish we could go! I'm hoping going in December 2015 will make up for it. :santa:

I love frozen drinks but sadly, I did not try the colada. It looks really tasty though. Because of my blood sugars, when I drink, I get really hot and since it was already so warm out, I didn't want to risk getting overheated.

Great. Now I'm hungry & thirsty. :p

whoa, nice updates and perfect timing for my trip! :cool1:

I'm cracking up at your Singapore passport page ... the Strong!!! :rotfl: I remember you telling me that about the Singpore Sling. I'm still gonna try it :thumbsup2

Love the DS "food coma" pic. And yeah, IKWYM about the "wahhhh he looks so little here" ... it still happens to me all the time and my daughter is 10. :goodvibes

Ok, this is kinda bad but it took me like 10% of the way into reading this update to remember that this was last October which was last F&WF - which is when we were there too ... no wonder everything looked familiar :lmao:

Totally loved that dessert from the Scottish booth - we got the vegetarian haggis there too and it was so good! Was definitely the surprise of the booths for us

You guys are doing great with your passport - I don't think we got that far as while we had 2 days at EPCOT one was a Saturday and the lines were like 60 people long.

Those pillows are actually incredibly comfortable and soft. When he brings it out of his crib into the living room, i'll sometimes lay on it. Love it!

LOL! I am always trying to steal my kids Disney pillow pets! They are soooo soft! The girls keep telling me I just need to buy one!

So - I had to come back and look at your F&W pictures again. All those yummies. With three weeks to go until my trip how will I EVER survive without an AP and the inability to go to Epcot. I don't think I'm going to make. WAAAAHHH! :rotfl2:

30 stamps! I must beat this in November! :lmao:

January 2015. When you and I will meet, right!?

It's always beer o'clock, let's be real here.

That dessert looks absolutely heavenly! I also totally geeked out that you said Holy Calrissian. :rotfl2:

I've had the Tuna Poke before too. So yummy.

That gyro from Greece is always one of my favorites!

Mmmmm, really making me wish we could do F&W this year!

That dessert from Scotland looks amazing!!

Good job on getting all those passport stamps.

I know what you mean about the kiddo looking so small - I've been feeling the same way doing my December TR updates.

I was really determined, like insanely. When DH would start to walk away to get food, i'd yell like a crazy person, "GET THE STAMP!!!" :lmao:

You're going to be there during F&W and you're not going to visit?! :faint: I don't think I could do it. Who knows, maybe you'll decide to go at the last minute! Would make for a great update on your TR :thumbsup2

Wow! You really did hit a lot of the items for F&W.

Glad you liked the Banoffee tart. I think it might have been both of us telling you about it.
Dang! I missed that Tuna Poke. Looks divine. Oh well....next time.

Just remember....it's beer o'clock.....somewhere in the world. ;)

And I think both of you also recommended another item coming up :thumbsup2

That Tuna was so refreshing on a hot day.

You weren't here so you're forgiven :lmao:

:lmao::rotfl2: I am totally stealing that phrase.

I think it should be the next big 'saying', so start spreading it!

Sorry to tell you, but it gets worse. :sad1:

Ugh, I was afraid of that.

Lovin' the food choices! I think the Banoffee Tart was by far one of my favorite items, along with the filet & cheese soup from Canada. I managed to find a recipe for the tart on Pinterest but I haven't had an occasion to make it yet.

I'm obsessed with trying to replicate Disney dishes, so i'll need to find this recipe!

I've already made the mistake of looking at the menus for this year and man, do I wish we could go! I'm hoping going in December 2015 will make up for it. :santa:

I didn't want to torture myself so I'm trying to ignore all F&W articles and menus :lmao: I'd love to go back again for F&W. But going in December will be amazing! Definitely one of the best times to go. Luckily, we'll be there January 2nd so they should have some decorations up still!

I love frozen drinks but sadly, I did not try the colada. It looks really tasty though. Because of my blood sugars, when I drink, I get really hot and since it was already so warm out, I didn't want to risk getting overheated.

For me, the problem is they're so good that i'll keep drinking them and later i'll get a headache from all the sugar. So beer and wine works for me!

Great. Now I'm hungry & thirsty. :p

Don't you hate that! :lmao:

Keep it coming - I am getting crazy excited for our upcoming F&W trip!! :-)

Leaving soon! :yay:

whoa, nice updates and perfect timing for my trip! :cool1:

2 days!!! :cool1: Are you going to be updating on FB, I hope?!

You have to let me know what you think of the 'Quad S' -> Severely Strong Singapore Sling :rotfl2:

It's like every day I see him learning more and doing more, it makes me so happy and so sad. I miss him being little already!

Ok, this is kinda bad but it took me like 10% of the way into reading this update to remember that this was last October which was last F&WF - which is when we were there too ... no wonder everything looked familiar :lmao:

Oh yeah I think we missed each other by a few days right?!

Totally loved that dessert from the Scottish booth - we got the vegetarian haggis there too and it was so good! Was definitely the surprise of the booths for us

I regret not trying that. I heard good things about it, even though it sounds pretty gnarly.

You guys are doing great with your passport - I don't think we got that far as while we had 2 days at EPCOT one was a Saturday and the lines were like 60 people long.

Yep, that day Saturday definitely doesn't count. I hear the crowds are just awful...and that some of the people are too :crazy2:

Those pillows are actually incredibly comfortable and soft. When he brings it out of his crib into the living room, i'll sometimes lay on it. Love it!

LOL! I am always trying to steal my kids Disney pillow pets! They are soooo soft! The girls keep telling me I just need to buy one!

:lmao: DH was laying on it earlier tonight! I should actually just change all our couch cushions to Disney Pillow Pets so all our guests would be more comfortable!

So - I had to come back and look at your F&W pictures again. All those yummies. With three weeks to go until my trip how will I EVER survive without an AP and the inability to go to Epcot. I don't think I'm going to make. WAAAAHHH! :rotfl2:

I think you're torturing yourself! I mean, how can you be at the World and not go to F&W?!:upsidedow Hopefully you'll make your own type of F&W outside of Epcot.

30 stamps! I must beat this in November! :lmao:

January 2015. When you and I will meet, right!?

I've had the Tuna Poke before too. So yummy.

That gyro from Greece is always one of my favorites!

Well, our goal was to get 30...you won't know if we actually managed it until the end:cool2:

YES!!! I can't WAIT to meet you! :hyper:

I was surprised how much DH and I loved the Gyros! We went back again later that day.:thumbsup2

Mmmmm, really making me wish we could do F&W this year!

That dessert from Scotland looks amazing!!

Good job on getting all those passport stamps.

I know what you mean about the kiddo looking so small - I've been feeling the same way doing my December TR updates.

The tart was so yummy! I'd love to try and make it at home one day.

I didn't want to text you cause it was so late, but DS watched all the videos and loved them! I think he was more interested in Izzy, he would wave and point at her and then hold the phone to his ear and say 'Hi!' :goodvibes

Love your pictures and it makes me so excited that we will be there for the food and wine festival. I am a little picky though with good so I don't know if I would try everything but you never know. I am not so picky with the alcohol. :thumbsup2. I will at least try even if I don't like it.

Let's get back into this. The one year on this TR is fast approaching and I want to finish it so I can discuss our plans for our January 2015 trip :thumbsup2
1 year??? Wow! Slacker... :rolleyes1

DH really, really wanted the Scotch flight, but wanted to get some food in him first before trying this. What a level headed bloke! Guess he’s becoming an adult :sad2:
:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

The trout was just okay. I wasn’t overly impressed by it. DS seemed to like it though so he finished it for us. The beef and the soup was amazing!
I wish they sold carry out fillet and cheddar cheese soup all year long.

Told you guys he liked it
Ok, my belly is full, time to chill...

Aw, that is so cute! :lovestruc Glad he liked them. Hopefully he learned that hugging characters is a good thing! :goodvibes

I totally thought I'd replied, but now I think the dis logged me out when I tried.

That banoffee tart looks DELICiOUS!!!!! And quite a few things I'll be able to try popcorn::

I'll be there this evening :cool1:
