we are planning a trip the week of Sept 15th and have heard EPCOT may have soft opening of F&WF on that Thursday. In my planning, I am considering doing the possible soft opening instead of facing the crowds that weekend. Should I take that chance? And does soft opening mean some vendors may not be up and running? any thoughts would be appreciated

We did soft opening/CM day two years ago and all the booths were open. No lines at all and the CMs were excited and happy! At times, it would take a little longer at the register because CMs were being trained on how to complete transactions. It actually was a nice, line-free way to enjoy F&W.

The CM preview is open to everyone, but it is only the food kiosks that were open. It's basically to work out any glitches before the actual opening the next day.

By vendors if you are referring to the F&W merchandise that Disney sells and the outside third party vendors, none of that was available on the preview day.

On the weekend we usually have lunch from 11:00 to 2:00 at the food booths before the crowds start to arrive.

In the past, the CM preview day has been Thursday, the day before opening day.

Great! Thank you. And by vendors I meant the booths. It was so early in the morning when I posted, I wasn't sure what to call them but vendor probably wasn't the best choice.
