Our son who is 2 has several food allergies. He is allergic to Peanuts, tree nuts, green peas, coconut and some soy products. So what are the options within WDW. Is WDW very accomidating with this stuff or is it something where we should bring his own food for him. Thanks!

Katie

Hi Katie,

I was there last year with my dd who is allergic to peanuts and milk. It was AMAZING! We contacted Brenda at Food Services, filled out the forms, made note of the allergies on our ADR's and everyone was prepared. The chef came out to discuss her options and often she was made her own foods that weren't on the menu. They also walked us through the buffets, but because of the cross contamination I was too nervous, so they made her something.

I am REALLY excited to go back next month, and not worry about my daughter having a great time and eating right along with us!

Brenda will send you a food list as well. I took mine to Staples and photocopied with lists on a smaller size and laminated them so they were easy to use while we were there. It made for faster snack choices.

I believe the contact info for Brenda is in the above FAQ section.

Enjoy!!

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Look in Post#3 under Dietary Restrictins and you will find a lot of information and links that will help you.

Or, if you want an easier route to the FAQs, click on the link in my signature.

I have severe tree nut, fish and shellfish allergies. It is such a great time at Disney because they are so helpful.

I would bring some little snacks with you for him due to his age (I bring snacks for my 2 year old at all times......they aren't patient enough at that age to wait for food ;)) Bringing snacks will also help if you plan on doing counter service meals. Again, it's the whole 2 year old patience issue. At counter services, it can still take an extra minute to get your carefully prepared food. By the time he digs into a box of raisins, his food is ready :thumbsup2

WDW is also a bit of a relief for many parents of kids with food allergies that I know. The kids get more options than at a regular restaurant back home and parents see how good the chefs are about the allergies.

I hope you have a great time :cool1:

I would bring food that your child is used to eating. His favorite cookies, snack bars, etc. My son is used to having a pear bar when he woke up & we couldn't find them anywhere when he was little.
WDW is very accommodating with food allergies. I have always been able to find something to feed him. My son is pretty much on like a caveman diet. (no flour, gluten, dairy, corn, food dye...) If you can't pick it off a tree, pull it out of the ground or kill it, then he can't eat it.
Now my vegetarian niece that hates most vegetables....She is a problem! :rotfl:
