The interesting part of this story to me is that the editor called this information "ground breaking". It just goes to show you that until you deal with it, you have no idea what it takes to be the parent of a child with food allergies.

FYI: I am a mom of a DS (2) with milk, egg, and peanut allergies.

Very ground breaking indeed!

When I went ot research preschools for my DD2, I would ask about how they handled food allergies-- some had not set plan and just let the teachers handle it (crossed off my list), some have really good plans and procedures(kept on the list, and , my favorite, some would go on and on and on about their great peanut plan and peanut alimination program, and when they finally finished I would say that's great that they are dealing so strongly with peanut allergies, however she has never had any peanuts but has tested negative for a peanut allergy. They would look at me like I was crazy. The comments usually were "" so what else could she possibly be allergic to?" (corn, wheat, dairy eggs, most meats, fruits and veggies)

People who don't have allergies don't get it or are so one track minded that it can be dangerous. I'm hoping more awareness to all kinds of allergies makes it easier for the kids who have them.
