I'm considering signing my daughter up for Grand Adventures in Cooking and the Alice in Wonderland tea party; however, she has severe allergies to both peanuts and tree nuts. I know t hat they serve PB&J sandwiches at the tea party - does anyone know if they can substitute that? Also, anyone know if they'll accomodate her at Grand Adventures in Cooking as well? Any suggestions?

While I'm sure that they would happily serve your daughter someting else, can she be trusted to not eat something offered by another child? While there are adults supervising this activity, thye can't be responsible for watching her every moment of the time. If she goes to school and understands that she can not eat items except those specifically given to her, she'll likely be fine. Otherwise, I'd say no way.

Now if you are asking them to change the entire menu for everyone because she can have an allergic reaction just to being in the same room with PB, then I would think they probably won't be able to accomodate you.

While you are not allowed to stay with her, you can sit on a bench right outside, and even peek in at her :)

I want to think with GA in Cooking that they frosted cupcakes, so that might be a safer option. Best bet would be to call and find out for sure!

My DS (5 @ the time) did Grand Adventure in Cooking in August & they didn't just ice cupcakes. They made wonderful little Butterfinger tarts & this would obviously be a problem for your child. I'd call the GF & ask to speak with the chef that does the program; he might be able to schedule a non-nut food day for the date your looking to book. I wouldn't just trust CRO to convey the info!

Thanks for your replies, while my only turns 4 in April, she's actually very good about asking if something has nuts before she takes any - that being said, I think that a whole roomful of kids would be too much for my nerves though she's never shown that sensitive an allergy where she herself hasn't ingested it - I'd rather not take the chance. The adventures in cooking sounds safer - I'll give them a call and see if they can ensure a nut-free day. Thanks again.
