Following Dr. Seuss to BCV- a November 2011 TR Updates 6/11

Great update as always! I know exactly what you mean about the meds. When they are right - it makes all the difference! :thumbsup2

Glad to see you updated! Looks like Kouzzina was a hit again! I really have to try some of these TS places for breakfast, they all just look so yummy! :)

Too bad Sean was having issues, glad to hear his meds are working for him now.

That Cupcake looks good, what kind of actual cake was it? What was that stuff on top where the elephant is?

Your photos from Kouzzina look fabulous! :cloud9: Come to think of it, so does the food! :rotfl:

That elephant cupcake looks amazing! :lovestruc

Looking forward to reading more!

We have an ADR at Whispering Canyon on the morning of our cruise. I now may need to go and check and see if Kouzzina has any availability.

We all liked it very much, I actually have a hard time choosing my favorite breakfast between Kouzzina & Kona- oh, yeah, and now WPE with that crazy delicious pizza. Good luck with your decision!:goodvibes

Thank-you, and yes! It does make all the difference! Sean has been SO HAPPY this past month- and very interactive (for him) with all of us- it is WONDERFUL! :cloud9:

I went back and edited my post because I found the description on Allears- White Chocolate Elephant Cupcake - rich chocolate cake filled with chocolate cream, topped iwth a light buttercream and toasted coconut $3.99 We sliced that cupcake in half and Pods & I shared one of the halves. It was REALLY good, but you have to love coconut (which we do!). Tyler was crazy for both the coconut and the white chocolate elephant, since they are two of his favorites.:goodvibes

I am so glad that he is better. Good to have a partner for tag teaming :)

You KNOW that's true!! Did you call me yesterday?

Sorry Sean was having an off day. That's tough. I still think you and the other boys had a nice morning in AK and you actually got quite a bit done before it was time to leave.

Was that a hippo swimming under water? I saw one doing just that in December and it was so cool. He was really fast.

Never been to the bakery, but good to know that is the home of such great treats. Sounds like a place that Nick would love.

Kouzinna looks really good! Another on my list of restaurants to try. I love that band in AK! Love that caribbean sound!

I am the biggest trip report lurker out there! This it my first reply. I just found your report and I had to say that your oldest son totally reminds me of my oldest daughter. We have three girls and my seven year old is non-verbal due to brain damage that happened at birth. She has many aspects that are on the autism spectrum and I can totally relate. I look forward to going back and reading about this trip! The family pic of your son with his legs crossed is totally Mia! What a trip. She makes things interesting but I have come to realize she is what makes my family special!

I did but I found what I was looking for. <3

Ok! :goodvibes

The hippo was not swimming- he was still. I had never seen that before at AK, it was very cool!

I thought the band was great, too- but I couldn't understand how it fit in- not that I minded, that music always signals vacation in my brain!

We were enjoying a little down time in our villa- Sean was in desperate need of a break, and we had some time before our ADR at The Wave. Timmy decided he didn't need any down time- and wanted to go play tennis. Which cracks me up- because the only time Timmy EVER plays tennis is on vacation. EVER. He just likes to experience EVERYTHING (when he is away) that is being offered. He is SOOOO my kid- :rotfl: Actually, of all 3 boys, he is the one who (although he looks just like Pods) IS most like me- both in good and bad ways. Not that there's really ANY bad to speak of. Anywho, we decided Pods would take him, while I hung out with Sean, and off they went.

IMG_3355.jpg

Once they were back, we got ready for dinner, then headed to the bus stop (an hour before our ADR) to begin our journey to The Contemporary.

IMG_3358.jpg

I KNEW we should have hoofed it through EPCOT and taken the monorail, but somehow we chose the bus instead. BIG mistake. Buses were not very timely to MK from BCV that night, and we ended up about 20 minutes late for our ADR. And the Wave was PACKED! There were TONS of people waiting to be seated when we arrived.

Uh-Oh......

When the CM handed me my pager, she said that they were running about 30- 45 minutes behind. :scared1:

Uh-OH....

Sean was ok for a while......I walked him around the lobby, went up and down the escalator, went over by the coffee....

Then, Pods started to get antsy. Largely due to the fact that he was worried Sean was going to start freaking out.

How perceptive of him.

Pods told me to go to the bar and order some fries or something- so, that's what I did, kind of-

IMG_3359.jpg

I did go to the bar, and I did order the closest thing they had to french fries, which were potato wedges.

While I was waiting there for that, Pods was walking Sean around. Except...that was when Sean started freaking out. It was ENOUGH. He wanted fries, and he wanted OUT!

By the time the wedges were delivered-

IMG_3361.jpg

Sean was beyond reason- and he was soooooo done. We were all going to leave, and Pods just said I'll go back, I'll see you later. And ran out of there in search of the BC bus at MK, I guess.

Soon after that....the pager flashed.

T&T& I went in, and I can honestly say- at this point we were TAPPED OUT. We all felt horrible about Sean, and it was quite sometime before Pods was able to calm him down, get him back to BCV, and get fries etc from somewhere for their dinner and then let us know all of that. Pods was fine with Sean- but the rest of us had what I guess you would call "survivors Guilt". But, here's the thing- we HAD to make the best of it. So...we did.

Anyway....we all placed our orders, and Tyler started with a Mega-Berry Smoothie - Raspberry Purée and Nonfat Yogurt blended with Odwalla Berries GoMega, an excellent source of Omega-3 $4.69

IMG_3362.jpg

We all shared The Wave Appetizer for Two (or three, for us!) - sauteed sea scallops with rock shrimp and lump crab cakes $15.99

IMG_3363.jpg

Here are the crabcakes a little closer-

IMG_3364.jpg

Pods made sure to let us know Sean was happy as a clam back in the villa, and he was equally happy to put up his feet and have a beer in the room. :thumbsup2 That made things MUCH MUCH better for ALL of us! :goodvibes It certainly made that appetizer a WHOLE lot more appealing, that's for sure!
Our dinners came out- Tyler had ordered Whole Grain Penne Pasta - with Florida White Shrimp, Cedar Key Clams, Prince Edward Island Mussels, and Roasted Fennel-Tomato Broth $25.99 (although this looks more like a sauce than a broth to me...)

IMG_3365.jpg

He said it was very, very good. I had Chili-Soy Marinated Flat Iron Steak - Thai-Chili-Ginger Long Beans and Udon Noodles $21.99

IMG_3366.jpg

It was very tasty, and I especially enjoyed the long beans. Tim had some kind of steak, I think-

IMG_3367.jpg

I don't see it on the current menu, and I am at a loss as to what it exactly was! But he seemed pretty happy about it-

IMG_3368.jpg

To be continued- we actually ate DESSERT!!! :scared1:

Hi smikchic! :goodvibes I'm sorry I missed your reply before- I'm glad you like my TR- and SO honored you came out of lurkdom to say hello! :goodvibes How sweet that Sean is reminding you of Mia! :lovestruc I have to say, unfortunately, this was not our most successful trip to WDW with Sean- for medicinal reasons :sad2:- but we are hopeful he will have a much better time this November when we go. :goodvibes I have another TR, about a trip that was more successful with him- here is a link, in case you are interested- http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=34772675 . And I agree with you- our special children are what make our families special- they add so much to our lives, for us, imparticular, I think Sean makes all of us more kind, thoughtful, grateful and at times more patient than we might be without him. :lovestruc
I hope you continue to say hello! :wave2:

We ordered dessert, and had something....no longer on the menu! Sorry about that! It was good, though- especially because it allowed us to share three yummy things! :goodvibes

IMG_3370.jpg

We did all enjoy The Wave- I would not say it was my favorite meal of all time, but I would say it was a nice change from the usual and I would not hesitate to go back again.

As we were waiting for the check, Tyler said, "Alright. I'm tired. I'm goin back."

HUH??? No MK??? In the dark?? Nope- he was EXHAUSTED. And at 14, I VERY nervously let him go on his own- after I drilled him and made him tell me EXACTLY how he would go- he was off. Kinda scary for Mom, but he was fine- he has certainly been to WDW enough to know his way around. Nice, that we have been so often this is the result.

I do LOVE my DVC! :lovestruc

Timmy and I, however, were ready for some fun!

Via monorail....

Aaahhhh....

To be continued.....

Am I interrupting your update?

Oh well. :rotfl: So sorry that Sean had a meltdown and had to leave, but I think I would have had a meltdown myself if I was served those potato wedges. They look nasty. Good thing he never saw them, I think.

Your meals look yummy, especially that appetizer. YUM! I have never had a bad meal at the Wave and I hear they have a pretty good breakfast, which I might be trying in October.

Glad that Timmy still had the energy for an MK night. That would have been a shame if no one got to go.

I think you're right- it was a good thing he didn't see the wedges! Oh, man, he was a wreck that night. Wasn't too great this morning either, but that's another story- the pharmacy (no doubt because of insurance rules) switched his lexipro to a generic- and didn't ask or tell us. :furious: This type of drug- well, the generic is not always as effective, and , as in the past when we tried to switch to a generic, it did NOT work for him. When I noticed his pills' label, I was furious! I am SO MAD at them for switching to this without any warning! I think there is a new pharmacist at our pharmacy because the other ones would NEVER do this without mentioning it, or asking. I had a VERY long talk with him- he also screwed up another perscription and gave us 1/3 of what Sean needs. Anyway, so now we are, once again, waiting for the medicine to kick in. Everyday I keep hoping that today is the day- but, unfortunately, this today was NOT. Nothing like getting yelled at for 1/2 an hour in the morning before the bus comes. :sad2: UGH.
Sorry- I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening-:flower3:

Thanks for the support, Mother of Wicket! So sorry to hear you have been having issues with your meds, too- I hope things will be working better for you soon. Sean seems to be happier this weekend- hopefully that's it for Sean drama for a while. :thumbsup2

Hi there! :) I think that is a good time to go- it may get a little crowded towards the end of the week, but nothing like Christmas kind of crowds. We will be there then, too- coming down Nov 2nd and leaving on Nov 10th. Usually the weather has been great for us- this time we just had the one day that was chilly- so the pool is good then too. Where are you staying?

Hey Ellen-

Hi Terri! Thanks, I love that video of Sean- it was so much fun to watch him on that ride. It really made him happy. I wish we had TT in our backyard! It REALLY could have been helpful this year! :rotfl:
