Follow Me! I Will Lead Us Into Battle! A Thanksgiving 2013 TR *COMPLETE*

Alright I'm already laughing just from the title. Oh so true!! It's like "Hey, what's going on?... "Not too bad." Reflex.

Yeah, I think the main pull for deluxe (in most cases) is location. The photos of some of the mods looks stunning, so it's not like you're giving up anything in ambiance.

In fairness, I'm sure you were just wishing the security guard a happy birthday in case you don't see him on the actual day. A preemptive birthday wish if you will.

I do admit, it is nice to have a FP in your pocket upon arrival. :thumbsup2

Haha, I am the worst when it comes to that!

This is true. I love POR but a monorail resort is my dream because MK is RIGHT THERE!

Haha, let's go with that. I should have clarified for him, but ah well.

That was one of the plusses of FP+. On longer trips I think I'd spread it out more, but we had so much going on at Epcot that day that we figured we should get the headliners done early.

We were originally planning on staying at POR for this next trip but ended up getting a really good deal on the Poly. I still definitely want to stay at POR some day!

I also am really bad with the "you too" phrase. Brian Regan does a good bit about it, which I would highly recommend checking out on youtube if you've never seen any of his stand up!

Okay, I do not blame you for a second for that...the Poly is my DREAM resort! I love it so, so much. Excellent choic :lovestruc

I will definitely have to look at that! I'm so bad with it, haha.

I bought the blanket on our trip too. I love all those blankets from Disney. They are soo soft. We also love POR it's a beautiful resort for sure.

Isn't it the best? So fuzzy and soft, I love it so much.

Oh my so many great updates... I had to catch up from your prom dates, err I mean P&F character interaction. That was too funny! You were being stolen by the characters.

I too, have red velvet cupcake love! That's my go-to cupcake at DHS. However, I have to give up getting a carrot cake cookie for once in order to fit a cupcake into my snack schedule. ;)

Sleeping on RnRC, it's so easy to do. :rotfl2: That was a great photo! You guys are characters! <<< Meant in a good way!

Your mom did an awesome job with the Wishes photos on Main Street. Perfection.

POR is so lovely. I've only been to the main building and the boat launch area so I definitely need to do more exploring.

Kylie's Sweet 16 bday trip sounds like it is drawing a big crowd. Of course, WDW is the best place to celebrate anything so why wouldn't it? :thumbsup2

Hi Brenda! That was definitely one of my favorite character interactions, it was so much fun!

Those cupcakes are so good! I also face the struggle of scheduling my snacks. There are just so many good sweet treats at WDW that it's hard to decide which to pick.

My mom is awesome with photography. It was an amazing picture to have.

You know, it's not like it's particularly fast or exciting, so might as well take a snooze :lmao: I'm glad you think we're funny!!

The Sweet 16 trip is going to be the party of the year, if not the century. I'm really excited!!

All right, I'm back and getting caught up!

That ornament is absolutely beautiful!

You got the stained glass dress! I love it! I have that Belle sweatshirt too. :thumbsup2

Oh no worries, we pulled legacy FP's once too. :thumbsup2

Plans look good for your July trip! ADR's look great!

Hahaha, that's so funny that Phineas posed Kylie like they were prom dates. Too cute!

I'm obsessed with limited time cupcakes. I wish I could be there all the time just so I can try them.

Kylie clearly does not understand the seriousness of trip reporting. The only time you use old pictures is if you had a brain fart, and DID NOT get a picture of something.

I crushed my own cupcake by being an idiot and dropping the plastic box it was in on the ground. And I'm telling you right now, if the box had opened an the cupcake had hit the ground, I would have picked it up post haste and still eaten that sucker! And then flipped a table. ;)

Red velvet is the cupcake dreams are made of!

When we got there in January, there was literally no Frozen anything. No stuffies, no pins, nothing at all. It was insane!

I love where the TR title came from! It is an entirely accurate description of leaving the park at that time.

Okay, your statement "so I ate my gingerbread man in the dark" made me crack up. You're nicer than me. You want to sleep, that's fine, but I'm not ready, so you sleep with the light on! My Dad loves me for that one.

Your reflex is awkward, yet we all have so many of those!

Welcome back, Dani! The ornament is sitting on my desk at school now because it's too pretty to just have out at Christmastime. I'm so excited to wear that dress on my next trip! I love the Belle sweatshirt too!

There's a lemon blueberry cupcake with the Sorcerer hat on it that I'm dying to try, but it seems to be a seasonal one. Did you see it while you were there? So cute!

Thank you! I'm really happy with the ADRs we got too. A lot of old and new favorites on there.

Exactly! I had the camera out, so I was going to take a picture.

Cupcakes are a very serious business. Plus, Disney is like the cleanest place ever, so no harm in eating cupcakes off the ground.

We saw a decent amount of plushes, but no pins anywhere except for the set of 4. I was sad because we just missed the Frozen Opening Day LE pins and they were all gone when I got there. Hopefully they'll be releasing more stuff!

I'm definitely using my TR title on every Disney trip from now on.

Haha, honestly they were so asleep that I probably could have turned on the light no problem, but I figured I would be nice and let them get their beauty sleep!

If you are going to continue these TRs, I am going to have to become more of a breakfast person. Mine always look so lame compared to everyone else's.

POR was so pretty, loved those gardens. I wish I could just hang around the resort but I don't know how to do it!!! There is too much to do!

Awesome awkward moment! Hey, it was early!

Hehe, it's okay. I just loooove breakfast, especially Disney breakfast.

Haha it was gorgeous, but it's hard to stick around when there are parks right nearby!

Happens to the best of us :rotfl:

POR looks to purdy! I love all the fountains :thumbsup2

Mmmm...breakfast looks delicious. I might be a little biased though as I am mostly definitely a breakfast person. I could probably eat it for every meal- especially if it's that french toast covered in strawberries!

I could totally see myself saying something like that! I'm totally the person who says "good" when someone says "what's up" instead of "how are you" haha :rotfl2:

Hey Emily! HAPPY DISNEY MONTH TO YOU! POR is so pretty. I wish I could have seen it more, but on a trip this short it's go go go!

It was really good! I loved the food court at POR. I am a breakfast person too. I specifically requested the Crystal Palace brunch for July so I could try puffed French toast!

I am the exact same way :rotfl:

Ughhh...I hate when I automatically respond and it has nothing to do with what the first person said! :lmao: It happens more than I'd like to admit.

POR is really beautiful from your pictures! We stayed at POFQ for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it, but we never ventured over to POR. Although it was a serious contender for our May weekend, after seeing pictures of it in so many TR's.

Haha I'm so relieved it happens to other people too!

I really want to stay at POFQ at some point! My sister had a dance rehearsal there a few years ago and I absolutely loved it. POR is amazing but you definitely made the right choice with WL!

Chapter Twelve: For the First Time in Forever

By the time we got out of Test Track, it was 10:30, so we booked it over to Norway, where Anna and Elsa were meeting. By the time we got there, the line for the 11 o’clock meet was closed! NOOOOOOO!!!!

We decided to just get in line for the 12 o’clock meet, and we were the second group for that meet. I was glad we did, because before the 11 o’clock group had even gotten inside, the line for the 1 o'clock meet started forming. The people really like Anna and Elsa.

The only problem there was that we had an 11:30 ADR for Via Napoli. Once the rest of the World Showcase opened, my mom booked it over there and changed our reservation to 8 p.m. We were on such a weird eating schedule because we had dinner at 3:30, but it worked out and we didn’t have to pay the cancellation fee.

We waited, Instagrammed photos, and pin traded with the character attendants.

Hello, Maelstrom.

It really wasn’t a bad wait at all, despite what Kylie looks like.

11391197315_5653b2007b_c.jpg

Seriously, when I came back and read some threads on the DIS, it sounds like it’s the norm to wait 90 minutes and pretty common to wait two hours or more, so I was fine with a 90 minute wait. I am OBSESSED with Frozen, and at the time it wasn't clear if the princesses would stay in WDW, so I knew I had to meet them while I had the chance. Of course, now I doubt they'll ever leave, but basically I think it was worth the wait.

We also took a picture of Kylie’s Anna bow from Mickeywaffles.

11391200156_48f44fd8db_c.jpg

Shortly after noon, we got inside. Kylie wanted a picture by herself, so she went up first.

11391198906_87642b0202_c.jpg

We were both wearing shirts featuring DISigns from Barb on the cruise board. She rocks.

11391222994_9e96736c11_c.jpg

11391222254_d90bc7bd81_c.jpg

Anna and Elsa loved Kylie’s bow and braids. They asked her what her favorite part of the movie was, but they had to huddle up and whisper since some people hadn’t seen the movie yet. It was too adorable.

11391195816_657d2e48c6_c.jpg

Next it was my turn! Anna and Elsa noticed my shirt right away, and when I told them Olaf was my favorite, they said he was their favorite friend too.

11391317323_eec7d3a198_c.jpg

I said that Kylie wouldn’t take a picture with me, and Elsa said sisters are like that, and sometimes she likes to be alone to make ice, and Anna likes to go sledding with Kristoff.

11391192005_1f8a7f6d5c_c.jpg

11391191155_5b7d3cc4d6_c.jpg

They were beautiful and so great to talk to! I was glad they didn't try to rush us even though the line was huge. Kylie and I both agree that Frozen is one of Disney's greatest movies, so we were so happy to see them.

My dad got in for a picture even though he had no idea who Anna and Elsa were.

Continued in next post

That was such a great character meet. I had read on the DIS the week before to get there by 10:30 but that didn't help us. And the CM being named Kylie didn't give us any advantage either!

Your dad was a good sport. He had no idea who they were but told us we could go do something else and he would stay there and wait. There just isn't much else to do up there before 11am.

I just read today that starting next week Anna and Elsa are going to meet from 9am to 6pm so it looks like a long run to Norway at rope drop. I think I would use a Tier 1 FP+ for that if they start one - the run to Soarin' is a lot shorter.

Thanks for the update! My day started with Kylie jumping on my stomach saying "The sky's awake so I'm awake" and then we DID build our own Olaf on yet another snow day so this was perfect timing!

I'm SO jealous you got to meet Anna and Elsa! I should have ditched my parents and meet them when I was there in Dec, I have a feeling the line will be way to long in Feb for me to meet them

Your dad has me cracking up again- love that he jumped in for a princess shot without knowing who they are!!

90 minutes to wait doesn't sound that bad considering what I've heard about the lines/crowds/etc. I'm really glad you felt you had a good greet and didn't feel rushed because there was a line behind you.

What did you think about Anna and Elsa? I don't love the videos of their meet and greets that I've seen. In the early videos, they don't come off the same as the movie, IMO. I think they're probably hard characters to bring to life, and I figure they've probably evolved too as their 'friends' become more experienced.

Nice chapter title!!!! :flower3:

Honestly, I'm surprised your wait was as short as it was. Now I'm hearing of waits of 4-5 hours. INSANE!!!! Yeah, I sure can't imagine Disney taking them out. Way too popular.

I sure do admire your commitment to getting that photo and such great interactions. I just couldn't justify it myself, but I ALWAYS have a backup plan...

He was. What a guy. We are very lucky that he indulges our need for character meets.

If they do FP+ I will be all over it...who knows at this point, though!

Haha, I loved your Olaf! He was adorable!

It was such a good meet! I am very worried about how the meet will be in the future...this was the weekend the movie opened, so I think we were lucky that a lot of people hadn't seen it yet, but now I think everyone has seen it :confused3

Your dad has me cracking up again- love that he jumped in for a princess shot without knowing who they are!!

Haha, I think he figured that if he was in line for an hour and a half, he might as well get a picture!

It really wasn't too bad seeing how the line has grown in the past few months. I was so happy, I was worried that they'd try to rush us through, but Anna and Elsa chatted a lot with both of us!

I really liked them. I did feel that Anna could have been a little more peppy. Elsa was really good, though, and they both had a lot to say related to the movie...I just felt that Anna was a little reserved compared to in the movie.

Thank you!

I know, at the time it seemed insane to wait that long, but now that I've heard about how it's been we really lucked out. I definitely could not wait four hours for them, though! I think two hours would be my limit.

Thanks Rob! We just love them so much, and since they're face characters we figured we'd have a good interaction. I'm intrigued re: your backup plan...

Disney sure hit a home run with Anna and Elsa! People complain about stand-by waits for Soarin' of 90 minutes but stand in line to see these characters and people are all over it! :thumbsup2 I feel fortunate to only have waited less than an hour in December. It was so well done!

I love your dad's tee shirt. I have a Disney bag with that photo on it. :lovestruc And speaking of tees, your Frozen tees are great! Glad that Frozen gals noticed.

I'm so jealous that you got to meet Anna and Elsa! I'm hooooping that maybe things will have cooled off a little in August but that seems unlikely.
I'm also wondering if the huge draw they have is helping to kinda even things out a little at Epcot and kind of giving Epcot another headliner attraction.
It's interesting that they discussed the movie with you. Do characters normally do that or are they like what movie it's my life? I'd also be interested to have seen what the meet and greets were like before the movie came out. What do you discuss with a character whose story you don't know?

I am disappointed that we are missing out on the Anna and Elsa meet. Paxton is crazy about Frozen, as am I! I find myself humming the songs allllll the time.

Kind of crazy that you still had a 90 minute wait, but at least it was not the 3+ hour wait people have been reporting on the boards!!

Joining in!!!

POR looks so pretty all decorated for Christmas. I never get tired of seeing pictures of the Royal Rooms. I initially had us booked in one for our August trip but ended up at the BWI when the discounts came out. Still kind of sad we didn’t see the Royal Rooms in person.

Gingerbread hot cocoa! As the snow continues to fall here, that sounds SO GOOD!

The Osborne Lights always look amazing. I hope to see them in person someday, but for now, I love the photos in TRs. :goodvibes

I LOVE your dad’s photo bombs! :rotfl2:

I am crazy about the 50s silver tinsel tree. That is FABULOUS! Your experience there sounds awesome too! We always eat at HBD in DHS, but I think 50s always sounds like so much fun - we definitely need to give it a try one day.

Oh my goodness! I am in love with the Minnie Poppins poster! That is the cutest thing ever. Minnie was still meeting out at the hat when we were there. I like the look of her new spot.

Love the Santa Goofy meet! My DD would lose her mind - two of her favorite characters combined into one. And what a good time with Phineas and Ferb too. Nice!

Your mom got some wonderful Fantasmic! pics. And the ears/fireworks picture is perfect!

Oh, the Anna and Elsa wait!!! GAH! We did it at Disneyland last month. I do NOT do lines - it was awful. You got some great photos though, and it sounds like it was a great meet.

Hi Courtney,

I just got caught up with your trip report. I'm glad you were able to see the Frozen characters. They are very popular now. You Dad looks like he enjoyed the extra attention.

Being able to get fastpasses for Test Track, Soarin' and the Maelstrom all on the same day is now just a fond memory. We were at WDW a few weeks ago and could only ride one of them a day. That has got to be the most unpopular decision Disney has made. :( On the plus side, I rode Soarin' for the first time ever and really liked it.

When we were there two weeks ago the wait for Anna and Elsa was 4 hours..... We decided that was a little too long for us.... so we went into the store and Danielle leaned in and took a picture of them. We have no idea who the kids are :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yep, I couldn't believe it when it wasn't even 11 and people were getting in line for the 1:00 set, but it's just gotten bigger and bigger! I love them, but I can't see myself waiting more than I did.

It's such a great shirt! And thank you! I was glad to find a DISigner who was already doing Frozen designs.

Yeah, I'd like to hope it will be better in July, but we'll see haha. It definitely is a headliner for Epcot at this point! I'd love to see them add FP+.

I think because my sister brought it up they went with it. When I've met Jasmine and Belle in the past they've talked about the movie as their "story." I know! I have no idea what it would be like to meet them before the movie, because I really didn't know much about it before I saw it.

I am disappointed that we are missing out on the Anna and Elsa meet. Paxton is crazy about Frozen, as am I! I find myself humming the songs allllll the time.

I lovelovelove Frozen! I don't think these princesses are going away for a long time, though, so hopefully you'll catch them in 2015.

We definitely lucked out, which is weird to say with a 90 minute wait, but there's no way I could have waited 3 or 4 hours for them.

Hi Roni! Thank you so much for joining in!!

POR is my favorite resort where I've actually stayed, but the Boardwalk is gorgeous so I won't fault you there! The Royal Rooms are so much fun.

It is freezing here today and I would love some gingerbread hot cocoa! It was strange drinking it in warm, sunny Florida though :rotfl:

The Osborne Lights were wonderful! They're my mom's favorite part of the holidays at Disney, I think.

Haha the man loves a camera, what can I say?

'50s is my absolute favorite TS restaurant. The fried chicken is amazing and I just have so much fun there!

I loved Minnie's new meet and greet area, the only thing is that it was a little hidden. Hopefully they get some better signage in the next few months!

Santa Goofy was absolutely adorable! I loved seeing the characters in their holiday costumes.

How was the theming of their M&G in Disneyland? I was never a huge lines person, it's gotten easier now that I have a smartphone and can live tweet and take pictures, but I can't see myself waiting that much longer for them. Sorry, Anna and Elsa!

First of all, welcome back!!! I hope you had a wonderful trip! The Frozen M&G was really fun, and my dad loves a good princess meet.

I know, I felt so lucky that we were able to pick our FP+ before they implemented the tier system. I really don't know which one we're going to pick, TT or Soarin'. Same at DHS, my family loves TSMM but Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is one of my favorites, so it's tough. I'm really glad you liked Soarin', though! The Soarin' music is actually my ringtone :goodvibes

When we were there two weeks ago the wait for Anna and Elsa was 4 hours..... We decided that was a little too long for us.... so we went into the store and Danielle leaned in and took a picture of them. We have no idea who the kids are :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Ughhh I could not wait 4 hours. It sounds like you made a good choice in just peeking in!

Chapter Thirteen: My New Best Friend

Since we canceled our lunch res, we decided it was snack time. I went over to Mexico to find a churro…BUT THERE WERE NONE. There were “churritos” at the QS restaurant, but I just wanted a nice solitary churro. DONDE ESTAN LOS CHURROS?

Mom, Dad, and Kylie wanted to get Mickey ice cream sandwiches, but I decided to just grab some French fries from the Refreshment Port.

The CMs there were awesome. They noticed my birthday button and asked if I was 21 yet. I wasn’t at that point, which they said was a shame because they would have bought me a beer!

We ate on a bench right across from Duffy, since meeting him was next on my special Holiday Must-Do List.

Kylie didn’t want to meet him for reasons beyond me, so Mom and I hopped in line. This was actually the first time I had met Duffy. I always thought he was precious but just never got around to meeting him. The Santa suit made him about 3,000 times cuter, though, so I decided it was time.

11391192216_349c6b43d2_c.jpg

Duffy is SO SOFT. I’d wager to say he’s the softest character I’ve met (sorry, Pooh Bear). We had a very nice hug. Easily one of the best hugs I’ve received from a character.

11391217094_92fea88267_c.jpg

We’re pretty cute together. These are some of my favorite pictures from the trip.

New BFFs.

I got another hug before I left, and Mom snapped some pictures of his meeting area.

Kylie really wanted to do the American Adventure. I’m going to be fully honest with you: I didn’t want to go, because there were so many Christmas decorations to see and so I didn’t want to spend a half hour watching the show. I was, however, a little tired, and figured it couldn’t hurt to sit in the dark for a half hour.

We took the boat over and while we waited for the next show, we looked around at the decorations nearby.

We stopped by Italy as well.

We entered the American Adventure and I was very happy to see the Voices of Liberty! We came in while they were singing a Hanukkah song. I unfortunately did not catch the name of it. Next they sang White Christmas and dedicated it to all the Floridians. They closed with We Wish You a Merry Christmas. They were wonderful!

11391541343_a75cc8be9e_c.jpg

We got inside the theater and watched the show. Well, most of us did. I briefly rested my eyes but couldn’t actually fall asleep. A certain member of our party, who shall remain nameless so I don’t humiliate him or her, knocked out and was snoring.

It is also worth noting that I had that Civil War song stuck in my head for the rest of the vacation. All the Christmas music played on a loop, and I just end up singing, “A cannonball don’t pay no mind if you’re gentle or if you’re kind…”

Continued in next post

To answer your question, I did get the Lemon Blueberry cupcake with the sorcerer's hat. It was really yummy. Really really yummy.

Okay, the line for Anna and Elsa when we went was 4 HOURS!!!!! And that was first thing in the morning, right when you got into WS! I was like, no. Doing the creep instead.

Awww, they would have bought you a beer?! That's it. I'm turning 21 again!

Gavin and Joaquin are obsessed with Duffy. Like, legitimately obsessed. They bring their Duffy's on road trips, and literally almost fell over themselves when we meet him in July.

The music from the American Adventure always gets stuck in my head! Especially the Two Brothers song!

How was the theming of their M&G in Disneyland? I was never a huge lines person, it's gotten easier now that I have a smartphone and can live tweet and take pictures, but I can't see myself waiting that much longer for them. Sorry, Anna and Elsa!
The theming was actually pretty cute with a talking Olaf and such. But the queue was awful - it was a tiny space in which we just round around ropes for hours. Horrid! I will have pics when I finally get to that little birthday trip in my current TR. ;)

Santa Duffy is too cute!

All the pics of the Epcot decorations are gorgeous. How fun to see them!
