Follow me as I snack around F&W! Complete 12/3: Wrap-up, thoughts on QSDP and F&W

That margarita looks awesome!!!

Oh it was, it was!

awesome reviews. Margarita looks yummy sucks that even the smell of tequila turns my stomach college frat/sorority parties ruined it for me LOL

Hahaha...luckily I've never had a problem with tequila!

I 100% agree with everything you had to say about the Strawberry Shortcake! I still liked it, though. I wish I had it now, actually...

Did it wind up on your shorts too??

WOW you guys weren't stuffed yet? Everything looks great! I'm sure my DW would love that margarita!!!!!

The strawberry shortcake looks really good too!

Haha, despite what it looks like, we really paced ourselves! Besides, at Disney, calories don't count :snooty:

Just back Yesterday.
Favorite snack - Crab cake with Sam Adams Boston Ale
Favorite Mixed Drink- Mojito
3 cheese plate was real good
Beef skewer great

I never tried the crab cake...I don't remember why, because we love them! And I don't like mojitos. I disagree with leaves in my drink :lmao:

Agree on the other items :thumbsup2

I have some exciting news: I'm going to DisneyLAND!!! ...either March or April of 2010. Avoiding Easter. Not sure exactly when yet, but we're going!! :yay:

Congratulations!!! :yay::yay::yay: I sooooo want to take a trip out there too, but logically, I HAVE to wait until no more babies (or go alone ). That long of a plane ride with a toddler...:scared1: :sad2:

Love your updates! I've never seen pictures of the inside of the Event Center. And I didn't realize they have Sweedish Chef things there for sale! I heart the Sweedish Chef. I will have to remember this if we ever go back during the F&WF!

Glad to read you discovered the wonder of bread pudding. It sounds so wrong. Bread Pudding?! But oooh, soooo good.

You need to make a trip to New Orleans for some excellent bread pudding!;)

I think I had 4 crab cakes they were great fried up right there. The mojito ( there were no leaves) it was like a slushy lime-lemony taste with lots of rum. I did look it up on line and they showed some with I think mint leaves, but the one at Puerto Rico didn't look like that.

Ooh, margarita heaven, not a bad place to be!!

Where exactly did I miss the post about you going to Disneyland?? Congratulations! We could possibly be there at the same time. I'm going in April, after Easter.... you never know.

Sorry about the shorts, especially with bbq sauce. Hopefully the stain came out.

OMG- bread pudding. And in that lighting it looks so, shall we say, seductive? I wish I had gotten that. Also the Blood Orange margarita, how great is that drink, right? It seems to be a popular one on the Dis.

They also had Remy in a Chef's outfit...I almost bought one for myself! I'm so excited for our trip to DLR! I'm driving my boyfriend crazy (his words: "you do realize this is months away??")

I think I'd gain 20 pounds!! :rotfl:

Interesting, I would just assume it has mint leaves!

It was on my dark shorts, so I think they're ok  We're going in March now, the 17-21.

Great Review of the food. I was wondering about the combo platter in Morraco, it really looks good.:goodvibes

It's delicious! Try it, you won't be disappointed!!

It does look seductive :lovestruc And the blood orange margarita is a popular one. It's just so darn tasty!!

Sorry for the delay! I was away all week :sad1: I'll start working on a new entry STAT!

We started our third day by "sleeping in." ...For me this meant sleeping until 7:30. I wanted to be on our way by 8:30! I don't know why he says it isn't a relaxing vacation :confused3

We were heading over to AKL for a few missions: 1) Mickey Waffles! Pop only had the Pop Waffle, which really isn't the same, now is it? 2) Zebra Domes! I had heard so much about them, what better time to try them than breakfast? :thumbsup2 3) Persuade my boyfriend the greatness that is a deluxe resort.

Instead of taking a bus to the AK, then changing over and taking another one to the AKL, we decided to just take a cab over to AKL. $15 later and much faster, we were pulling up to the entrance. We headed down to the Mara. I knew what I wanted, and my boyfriend still needed to decide.

I got Mickey Waffles with sausage:
DisneyOct09-GeorgeEastman143.jpg

My Mickey Waffle was everything I hoped for :cloud9: Honestly, it's just a waffle, but it's MICKEY! And I was in Disney, so that makes it ten times better. I swear that sausage is the same they use at Kona, which is quite possibily my favorite sausage ever, so I was pretty happy.

To pair with my Mickey Waffle, we also got some Zebra Domes (that's 2/3 on the checklist!)
DisneyOct09-GeorgeEastman147.jpg

I have to say...not the best decision for breakfast!! Really, really sweet! But tasty. Unique, that's for sure. I'd definitely get them again, especially if I were staying at AKL (hint...hint!) and save them for a midnight treat. I'd only want to eat one at a time though.

My boyfriend got the Bounty Platter:
DisneyOct09-GeorgeEastman145.jpg

They have just a normal platter and then the bounty platter. The only real difference is the mickey waffle. He said to me, "So why wouldn't I get the bounty?" ...if you weren't on the dining plan and didn't want to pay extra for a waffle? "oh. Then I'll get the bounty." Men and their food :sad2: Overall he liked the platter, but his favorite part was the waffle! He told me that he wished he would have just gotten the waffle like me... Not that anything else was particularly bad, he just would have preferred more of the waffles.

After breakfast we walked and explored the resort a bit. My boyfriend decided that he loved the resort (check 3/3!) and that we must stay there...not only that, that if we do, we have to get a Savannah room so he can sit out on the balcony and watch the animals :rotfl: What happened to my boyfriend?? (He's definitely of the mindset of, "why would we pay more money if there's no need?") He definitely fell in love with the resort, so I have a feeling that we'd be staying there next time we stay on property...he mentioned going for a longer trip, staying at Pop for a couple nights then switching to AKL...I'll take it! :thumbsup2

After wandering around a bit more, we boarded a bus bound for Disney's Animal Kingdom (side note: it was standing room only. I noticed it was going to be a tight squeeze on the bus, so hopped to the back door... I'm surprised that at the values they have lines set up, but not at the deluxes. It was a free for all...I certainly hope we didn't jump in front of people waiting for longer than we were!) A hop, skip, and a jump later we were arriving at the AK. Since we were the last 2 to squeeze in the back, we were the first 2 to squeeze off... I was disappointed to find they weren't doing the centralized FP like they were in August. The park was pretty crowded, so I was surprised. We headed back to Everest to get some FP for later, and ran into this lady:
DisneyOct09-GeorgeEastman150.jpg

It was the first time I had seen her in person, so I got pretty excited and had to explain who she was to my boyfriend.

We then hit Festival of the Lion King, which is still my all time favorite show. We tried to do Dinosaur:
36753261.jpg

but it was temporarily closed :guilty:
Back to Everest to use our FP:
36764692.jpg

He didn't enjoy it. He's not a fan of roller coasters and I kind of neglected to mention it goes backwards :rolleyes1
We eventually made it back to Dinosaur, then decided to head over to Epcot.
My boyfriend really enjoyed AK and wants to spend more time there "next time." :dance3:
(I'll make a believer out of him yet! )

That is a nice big Mickey waffle!!!!!

What exactly is a Zebra Dome? I hear about then so much on here but I don't know what they are.

Yay yankees!

:rotfl: This is so like me! On the morning I "slept in" on my trip, I was still up by 8:00! Who wants to sleep when there's so much awesome stuff to do, right?

And who says you can't change a man? :lmao: You give me hope!

Yay yankees!

You can just shush about the Yankees now :snooty:

And the Zebra Domes have like a sponge cake on the bottom, then a kind of mousse inside, which kind of has a mocha taste to it, then they're covered in chocolate, but it's soft chocolate.

:rotfl: This is so like me! On the morning I "slept in" on my trip, I was still up by 8:00! Who wants to sleep when there's so much awesome stuff to do, right?

And who says you can't change a man? :lmao: You give me hope!

While he's not exactly asking to go to WDW, he's now resigned himself that we'll always go down. He's become more active in what he wants while we're there, which is making planning our Disneyland trip sooo much easier!!

And yep, I can't sleep at Disney. Mickey is waiting for me, he calls and tells me so :lmao:

After our ride on Dinosaur, we caught a bus over to Epcot. We weren't quite hungry yet, but didn't really have much left to do at AK that wouldn't take a while (like the Nemo show that wasn't being shown for another hour and a half...I don't know why they don't consult me when putting together the schedule :sad2: )

DisneyOct09-GeorgeEastman151.jpg

As soon as we stepped into Epcot, I could tell it was going to be much more crowded than the day before. Then we got to the World Showcase and I started cringing... I dislike large crowds but can deal. My boyfriend can't stand them. I had warned him that it would be more crowded because it was a Saturday at Food & Wine, but it was nothing like I expected, seriously, it was more crowded that day than it was the day after Christmas!

Our first stop was at Argentina where we had the beef skewer with chimichuri:
36805259.jpg

First, I'll say that for as crowded as it was, the CMs were getting people through the line fairly quickly, I was impressed. Second, this dish wasn't my choice. I only had a bite, so I don't think I can fairly assess it. However, it landed at the top of my boyfriend's list, so that's got to mean something:
3480017835_52c865d24a.jpg

Next stop was Poland:
36805522.jpg

I have a confession...my Mom may or may not work for the company that Disney buys the pierogies from :rolleyes1 (Which btw, I think it's hysterical that they have the recipe for pierogies in their cookbook when really it's "go to the freezer section, buy, make." :rotfl: ) So anyway, I've had pierogies made about 20 different ways and I'm sorry, but this is the best they can come up with? They need to have a heart to heart with their supplier so they can do better. Overall the dish wasn't bad, it just lacked imagination (either that or I'm totally pierogied out.) We actually thought the best part of the dish were the onions! And also: $5 Disney?? REALLY?! I know how much that plate is costing you and that's a little ridic.
tmb_meeko.jpg

We doubled back and grabbed these little morsels from San Juan:
36805631.jpg

They're the dulce de leche cookies. I loved these. They weren't anything fancy, but they were light and sweet. Plus, the had them chilled in the booth, so they were nice and cold when we got them. One of my favorites!

Ooh, I love Pierogies and would've been deeply disappointed in that too....:sad2:

I am going to make it a mission of mine to get over to the AKL, with or without DH. He's the commando, and really, this trip, I have a feeling I'll be going solo or with DMIL (which is fine with me) to a lot that the others won't be. Zebra Domes must be purchased and consumed! One question, did you find it difficult to gain access to the resort? I've never really resort hopped before and don't know what you tell the guard at the gate, "Hi, I'm here to purchase some Zebra Domes and take them back to SSR with me.":lmao:

We resort hop all the time. I like looking at the decor and exploring. If arriving by car (we took a cab) just tell them that you're there to shop & to eat at Mara.

Did they give you two cookies or did you buy two? They just gave us one and we had to share and I have a thing about sharing cookies...I dont like to do it ;)

They gave us two. I would have been sad if I only got one! I don't think I would have shared!!

the duo of lecherous cookies was something that was on our list but sadly we never got around to trying. They look good, though.

and the food at Poland's booth ... bleh! Just say no! :lmao:

That is one sad looking pierogie. I contemplated Poland's booth then saw what someone was getting and kept on walking.:rolleyes1 Those little cookies are precious though. And your Meeko ratings are cracking me up, seriously. :rotfl2:

That pierogie looks pale and sad. The one I had last year at F&W was tasty... maybe it was just an off day, or off year? ;)

Hilarious about your Mom working for the vendor!!

You need to make a trip to New Orleans for some excellent bread pudding!;)

I am going to New Orleans in January (connected with my WDW trip). Woot! I will scope me out some bread pudding!!! :yay:
