Hey all,

I've seen in a number of places that when shooting fireworks, you should set your focus on infinity. I was wondering, how do you do this on a lens that does not have a distance meter?

Thanks! I've learned a lot on this board!

Set the lens/camera to manual focus and rotate the focus ring as far as it will go (assuming dSLR). With the lens facing away from you rotate CCW as far as it will go. To check if it is properly focused look at something in the distance... if it is in focus you are set. If it is not in focus rotate the the other way.

I just autofocus on something far away then set the lens to manual focus. With the aperture set to f/11 or so for fireworks we have a pretty good depth of field too.

Also, do not zoom after focusing since some lenses can change focus while zooming.

To infinity and beyond!

Sorry, I just had too!
