Hi:
Currently, I have my focus set on one spot metering or at least that's what I think it's called. If I'm photographing in the mountains should I change it back to 15 or 17 focus points (or whatever the highest number is)? I know I want to be using f/8 - f/16 depending on the light to have a focused background as oppose to my love of bokeh at f2.8.

I'm editing because I checked the manual and my choices are multi segment, center or spot. I'm going to try the multi segment and see what happens.

Thanks for any advice.

Michelle

I almost always have my camera on either center or spot for all shooting. When you adjust the aperture that is going to change the depth of field and what is in focus and by leaving your camera on the spot focus you'll be able to select exactly what is the most important aspect to you to be in focus instead of letting the camera decide with the multi-segment. I'm sure it would do a fine job but personally I like the control! :cutie:

I am a Pentax shooter and almost always have it on spot focus. I select the focus spot, halfway depress the shutter button and then recompose what I want in the viewfinder and then shoot. I also have my camera set so that once I have the focus locked it also locks the exposure. That is in the menu and it works best for me.

Thank you both! I will keep it on spot!!!! I'm so use to pressing the shutter halfway, hearing the beep and then recomposing that I'm sure I'd get angry if I moved it to multi segment and the camera focused on the wrong thing.
