Flyladies...step inside the one room we don't have to clean!

Hi, I am a flybaby too but I also take ideas from other places and I watch a ton of organizing shows.

Paper clutter, and toys are a big thing for me. Even being online makes a lot of clutter with all the emails and other things I feel I need to do/check each day.

Nice to meet other Flyladys. :wave2:

We make DS5 keep his toys in his room now - especially since there are so many tiny pieces that DD1 could choke on. So one kid down, one to go for getting toys out of the living room!!! At least she's old enough where the huge things like the swing and the floor gym are gone!

I'm a SLACKER. Wondering if flylady can help me?

I'm neat & organized by nature; but I wouldn't call myself a cleaner. I'm married & work fulltime. No children. DH travels alot.

I've become somewhat of a slacker lately in certain aspects of our home just because I'm trying to do too much.....and because we'll be moving from this home. I've already emotionally detached myself from this place & I think I have no desire to keep up with it anymore. But that is going to be a problem when we go to list the home for sale. And I don't want to take my new "slacker" habits with me to the new home.

Do they have a "flylady for working woman" version?

Yep - go to

www.flylady.com

and on the left hand side go to table of contents - There's a whole section on "Payroll Shes" - that might help you out!!!

I think it's harder if you work since you have to fit everything you need to do for your life in so little time. I think the menu planning offered on one of the sister sites would really help.

Here's Day 2 of the 31 day babystep program.

Day 2

Today I want you get up and get dressed to lace up shoes when you first get up in the morning. This means fix your hair and face too.

In order for us to change ourselves we need to remind ourselves of what we are doing. I did this with yellow sticky notes throughout my home to guide me through my day. This was the beginning of my home control journal. I had little notes on my bathroom mirror to remind me to get dressed to shoes. When you see the many reminders in your inbox from Yahoo; just think of them as yellow sticky notes. You don’t have to do them yet; they are just there as a little reminder. Read the subject line and you will be absorbing the flow of them. Do not allow those voices in your head to say this can’t possibly work with so many emails. Then when you hear those voices say I don’t have time, Set a timer for 2 minutes and just read a little and then delete at will.

Shine your sink before you go to bed.

Good morning all! I hope everyone had a good day yesterday. Mine was busy as usual! Thank goodness its Wednesday because its the last day of the work week for me. I only work Mon-Wed. This means tomorrow and Friday I can get some things done around here.
I know with flylady everything is done in babysteps when you get started. I'm of the mindset I can't start until I have everything done, kinda like cleaning up before the housekeeper comes! LOL
Does anyone else feel that way?
Its nice to see how many people are joining us. Just think, the more time we make for ourselves, the more time we have to Dis (well, for me Dissing without feeling guilty! LOL)
Have a great day all!

Yes I do!!!

However we are doing a whole house thing today. We are having MIL coming to stay with us for 1 week and also tomorrow will have dh's brother, sil, and their 2 girls stay with us for a few days.

Have to get rooms ready and squeaky clean bathrooms. YIKES!!! Wish me luck today.

UGH...I know how you feel about the MIL thing! I used to go nuts when she would come for a visit. I once had the house soooo clean she couldn't find anything wrong. You could tell it was driving her crazy. But she found something...she went and looked in my oven! Yep, said gee....looks like you need to clean your oven. I should have handed he the oven cleaner and said have at it! LOL
I finally decided tho that stressing about what she thinks isn't worth it so now I don't care. I pick up the house as I usually do and if she doesn't like it too bad. Nothing will ever be good enough anyway so why bust my butt.

Good luck....

I also need to find a way to reorganize my closet without spending money. It's a mess!
!

My tip - for what it is worth....

Take everything out (you know that is what they do first on all of those organization shows) and sort into trash, give away and keep. Toss and give away anything that doesn't fit or you really don't love...why bother putting on something that doesn't make you happy?

Then replace like items with like. That will at least give you more space. But, as my mother would say, you have to be in a good "throw-out mood".

I have this in a mother! (my MIL is fine) Shoot - my mom doesn't even clean her own house but always wants to come and get to work at mine.

In her case I truly believe it is her way to say that she loves me so I usually leave something for her to do as soon as she arrives - a basket of unfolded clothes is good because we can have coffee while she folds.

boy - I have a lot to say today - sorry if I'm cluttering the thread!

I just wanted to say that my "shiny sink" has become having the beds all made! I make all of them first thing in the morning and the bedrooms just seem tidier right away.

Good tip, but I am just not "there" yet. I cannot bring myself to do the "27 Fling Boogie" and I cringe everytime I see the reminder.

I would like to join. I used to get the emails, but stopped when I was PG and had no energy. With a newborn it is hard. You all have inspired me to make my bed though! And I try to throw in a load of laundry every morning.

I am really a very organized person. I don't have a problem throwing things out. My hotspot is my desk. Everything just gets thrown on it. Right now it is a mess.

If you hear screams around 3:00 it will be my DD9. I'm going in her room right now with the BIG BLACK TRASH BAGS. :smooth: She has more clothes than I do! :confused3

See ya later,

Lori

:rotfl: I'll listen for the scream!!!

I need to do the same with my 5yo's toys. He has too many and they are in too many places--our family room, basement playroom (big room), his room, and his legos are in my DD's room. She went to college and I decided that he could use her floor so that he could leave them out, but then he went and covered his bedroom floor with more toys. He's not even home much now that he started K, but he still manages to trash the house in record time. Too many toys!

T&B

I "cleaned" my DD's room a couple of weeks ago. I set aside almost 3 garbage bags full of rarely used toys, mostly of the McDonald's variety and stuffies that were never loved properly. I put them in our attic for a month and waited for the complaints. There were none and she didn't miss the toys at all. So, this week while she was at school I went through the bags again, put back a toy or two and brought the rest to the Goodwill.
