We have decided to go with a trip next year that will start on X-mas day and end on January 15.

We have never travelled during the holidays, so I am not sure how to approach getting the best price on our flights.

Our airport is Indianapolis. I do not have a major preferance with whom we fly, but it seems we most often use ATA or SWA. ATA's schedule will be out much earlier than SWA, so the question is: Do we wait to book when SWA releases their schedule, or do we book w/ATA as soon as possible? Is booking as early as possible advisable during this time of year? Will the flights sell out early? Anyone know a decent rate out of IND to MCO during the holidays? We are used to paying $150-200/ticket for our typical fall trip, but I expect this trip to cost more. Any ideas? Any advice/experience with this time of year is appreciated!

Thanks so much for your help :)

Prices should not be terrable as most people want to be settled by Christmas day.Jan 15th is way past the peak holiday travel season.
Having said that, we have flown Christmas day a few times and it will still be pretty busy. My guess is that you will have to pay between 200-250 for a flight. Keep a close eye on SWA and you should be OK
