Anyone have any advice on flying with a baby? My son will be 11 months when we travel. His pediatrician's only advice was to have him drink from a bottle during take-off and landing, to help with the ear popping.

Also, how about baby food? Do you usually pack it in a suit case? Carry-on? Buy when you get there? I have heard that they sell some baby foods at the resort stores, but the choices are very limited. Any info is appreciated.

We packed little applesauces in our checked luggage (also pepsi's) and they traveled just fine. However, the applesauces were in plastic packages, not glass jars.

I don't recall seeing baby food at our resort (CBR). I know they had loaves of bread, peanut butter, 1/2 gallons of milk, and large bottled waters (gift shop).

Perhaps you could just get the baby foods that come in the little plastic containers. I think they would travel just fine in checked luggage.

I might add that the TSA did search our diaper bag. I had a tube of desitin in with the diapers, and also a tube of neosporin in the first aid kit (also in the diaper bag).

Apparently I should have put both tubes in the ziplock baggie that you put cosmetics or whatever else in when you are going thru security. Coming home I made sure they were both in the ziplock (also the liquid hand sanitizer).

Another thing was we had to empty the sippy cup before security. So after we cleared the xray machines, I had to get more water for the sippy cup.

So you might not want to make the bottle until you are done with security.

Hope that helps! Have a grand time!

My ped suggested sweet oil for their ears when that young, as they may not take the bottle, so a drop in each ear before taking off and landing, if allowed that is. I also gave Benedryl on her advice another year too.

We had a bottle for our DD on the plane and didn't have any problem getting through security, we just had to declare that we had it. For the rest of the formula I brought powdered formula and purchased a bottle of water once we were through security to mix it with. DD usually had her bottles at room temperature and by the time she needed a second bottle the water was warmed up enough. I brought one jar of baby food onto the plane as well, with no problems. The rest of the baby food I packed in our luggage. I used a medium size plastic container with a lid, wrapped the jars in bibs, since we would need those anyway, then placed the container in our luggage. That way if anything broke it would be contained. I think our resort, POP, sold some baby food, but not much of a variety. You could also look into one of the grocery delivery services or shipping a seperate package to your resort ahead of time. If you are taking magical express make sure you pack enough baby food and formula for your flight, any delays and for a few hours after you arrive at your resort since your luggage may not arrive until a few hours after you do.

We traveled USair in Feb with our baby and we were allowed to take bottles that were already mixed I think. All I remember is that we had the water in the bottles and they made us dump them out except for one bottle. We had powder formula already measured out (those individual packs are great also) and they gave us water on the plane.

We took baby food and checked it in our bags. I would do that to make sure you have what you want. The resorts may only have a couple things.

Make sure you check the airlines web page on what you can take and not take and be prepared if they change it when you are standing there and they are checking your bags since that is what happended to us.

I am going next week with our 10 month old and 3 year old. I was going to ship a package, but we decided to order everything we need from gardengrocer.com. We ordered the baby food (very good selection) diapers, bibsters, yo-baby yogurt, bananas, etc. The delivery charge is 12.00, which beats the hassle of doing it myself. PM me if you'd like after I get back to see how it all worked out...it seemed to make sense to me. Have a great trip!
