I'm sure that this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find any threads. We'll be flying SW in Sept and will need to take a stroller with us. It's fairly small and folds rather compactly. Um, how do I get it on the plane?? Will I have to check it, or can I carry it on? I really don't want my stroller to be thrown into oblivion never to be seen again.

If you've done this, what was your experience?? Thank you!! :thumbsup2

we pushed our huge graco all the way to the plane door and then they gate checked it there. it was fast and easy!! and then when we deplaned as we got out of the plane door into that tunnel thing, it was right there waiting for us!!!!! it was great! and once againEASY!!!!

just make sure that you tell the gate agent when you check in that you plan on gate checking the stroller and they will give you a tag to put on it :)

Michelle is exactly right. The only thing I'll add is that it sometimes takes a few minutes for the stroller to be brought back up to the jetway, so I've found it isn't worth it to rush off the plane only to have to stand there in the jetway and try to stay out of everyone else's way while I wait for the stroller.

Also, SW is one of the few carriers that will ask you to sign a damage waiver, but don't let that scare you. I've flown with a stroller on 26 trips and never had a bit of damage!

I'll echo both of the previous posters. Just let a majority of the passengers de-plane ahead of you and that should be more than enough time for the ground crew to get your stroller out of the cargo hold and up into the jet way.

I've never flown SW, but ATA was always good about getting the strollers up very quickly.

We've never had a problem leaving our stroller near the jetway door just before getting on the plane. It's always been waiting for us when we've gotten off. I would recommend not bringing an expensive one because there is a chance it can get damaged. Our Combi got knocked around on 2 different trips so that the canapy didn't lock on one side and one of the wheels didn't lock. We didn't bother to talk to the airline about it because it still worked.
