hello there i have a question about flying with my 9month old.

We are flying Southwest Airlines out of Midway, chicago airport.

We have a nine month old, will i need any kind of documentation to get her on the flight? :confused3

i will also call the airline but i just want a heads up. I didn't want to wait on the phone forever with my now 6month old! haha

Here is the thing if we need a birth certificate:

My dd is adopted and the adoption will not be finalized until september 7th which is great!! BUT i am not sure if we will have the new birth certificate and other info by the time we leave in October. We have her current BC which does have our last name but still lists the birthmothers name...

TIA!! :flower:

We have flown many times with our now 2 year old and never have any of the airlines asked for any kind of documentation for her! You should be fine!

We just flew with DD 20months and did not have to show any documentation. You should be fine! :earsboy:

I agree... relax, we have flown with our daughter at least 6 times, from the time she was an infant to 2yrs...
We have never been asked for identification of any kind...

:teleport: enjoy your trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I flew southwest with my six week old and they asked for her birth certificate. They wanted to verify that she could be a lap child (free if under two). I don't think it will matter if the birth mother's name is on the certificate. I think they will just want to check that she isn't getting away with a free ticket. If you paid for her ticket, they shouldn't care about her age.

Same happened to us on SWA. If the child is going to be a lap child, be prepared to show proof of age. Our DD was obviously under 2 and we were asked for her BC. As soon as I told the agent we had a seat for her and she was not a lap child she told me I didn't need it then.

We're an adoptive family too and flew with DS several times before his adoption was finalized and once between finalization and receipt of his newly issued BC. Most of the times we had a seat for him, but one time we did not. I always brought along a placement letter from our agency (or a copy of our court document from finalization) and his passport (he was born in Korea)...we were never asked for any of it, but I was happy to be carrying something just in case.

Have a great trip!
Congratulations on your upcoming finalization!!!

Kinda funny they had to verify that a six week old was under two! Well I guess policy is policy. We didn't get asked to show anything for our 20 month old that looks like she could be two. :confused3

thank you all so much! i think i am just getting scared thast we are at the airport sooo close to our vacay with everything paid for and then we are turned away or something more dramatic! haha!! thanks for putting this drama queens nerves at bay!!
